Abstract

Public speaking is a communication skill that is closely related to daily life. However, an international survey in the Americas says that the most feared thing for humans is public speaking, which trumps the fear of death. Currently, many institutions provide public speaking training, one of which is Miss Model School which is the most complete modeling and public speaking school in Jabodetabek, uniquely this institution has a dream to make its graduates become independent women. The researcher is interested in researching the Urgency of public speaking material in the Miss Model School Institute to produce independent women with a qualitative approach that is studied based on persuasive communication theory berlo and model elaboration. This research uses interview, observation and documentation data collection techniques. The results of the study explain that public speaking material is needed to form an independent woman.

Public speaking merupakan skill berkomunikasi yang erat kaitannya dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Namun, survei Internasional di amerika mengatakan bahwa hal paling ditakuti oleh manusia adalah berbicara di depan umum, hal ini mengalahkan ketakutan terhadap kematian. Saat ini banyak Lembaga yang memberikan pelatihan public speaking, salah satu nya adalah Miss Model School yang merupakan sekolah modeling dan public speaking terlengkap sejabodetabek, unik nya Lembaga ini memiliki cita- cita untuk mencetak lulusan nya menjadi seorang independent woman. Peneliti tertarik untuk meneliti Urgensi materi public speaking dalam Lembaga Miss Model School untuk mencetak independent woman dengan pendekatan kualitatif yang dikaji berdasarkan teori komunikasi persuasive berlo dan elaborasi model. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa materi public speaking sangat di perlukan untuk membentuk seorang independen woman.
