Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability to understand the concept of students who use the method of active learning type of index card match against students using the lecture method. Type of research used is quasi experiments in the form of non equivalent control group design. Sampling is done by using purposive sampling. The selected sample is VB class as experiment I and VA class as experiment II as experiment class II which get treatment by using lecture method. Based on pretest data processing, the average score of the students of experiment class I is 50,96 while the experiment 2 class 45,77 from the difference test of the mean value of class at significant level = 0,05 obtained titung 2,11 and ttabel 1,674. So it can be concluded that the ability to understand the concept of students on social science before I give the treatment is a little different. After learning, both classes are given posttest. Based on the data processing and posttest obtained the average of experimental results I of 83.22 while the experiment II of 70.2 from the results of the difference test average. Based on the results of the study can be concluded that the ability of understanding the concept of students in the subjects of social studies students using active learning method type index card match there is a significant difference and better than students using the lecture method.

Pengambilan sampel yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Sampel yang terpilih adalah kelas VB sebagai eksperimen I dan kelas VA sebagai eksperimen II sebagai kelas eksperimen II yang mendapatkan perlakuan dengan menggunakan metode ceramah. Berdasarkan pengolahan data pretest diperoleh nilai rata-rata siswa kelas eksperimen I sebesar 50,96 sedangkan kelas eksperimen 2 sebesar 45,77 dari hasil uji beda rata-rata nilai kelas pada taraf signifikan=0,05 diperoleh thitung 2,11 dan ttabel 1,674. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa pada matapelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial sebelum diberikan perlakuan adalah terdapat sedikit perbedaan. Setelah pembelajaran, kedua kelas diberikan posttest. Berdasarkan pengolahan data dan posttest diperoleh rata-rata hasil eksperimen I sebesar 83,22 sedangkan eksperimen II sebesar 70,2 dari hasil uji beda rata-rata. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial siswa yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran aktif tipe index card match terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dan lebih baik dari pada siswa yang menggunakan metode ceramah.
