Abstract

Many students have difficulty finding interesting ideas when writing short stories and then think that writing short stories is a difficult skill. Researchers are interested in using social media platforms as references for students in writing short stories. So this research aims to analyze the influence of using news media on Instagram, the influence of using audiovisual media Tiktok, as well as the difference in influence between news media on Instagram and audiovisual media Tiktok on short story writing skills in class XI SMAN 2 Kota Serang. This research with a quantitative approach uses an experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest control group design. The sampling technique used a cluster random sampling technique which resulted in class XI-7 as the experimental class and class XI-8 as the control class. The data obtained were the results of the short story writing test from the Pretest and Posttest through statistical calculations with the help of SPSS version 26. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the t-test and N-Gain test. The results of the t-test show that the significance for the news media on Instagram and the audiovisual media Tiktok are both 0.000 < 0.05 so that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Furthermore, the difference in influence is shown by the N-Gain Score, news media on Instagram gets an average of 49.25% and audiovisual media Tiktok gets an average of 31.75%. The significance test of the influence of the two media shows that the news media application on Instagram is superior to the audiovisual media Tiktok in improving short story writing skills in class XI of SMAN 2 Serang City.

Additional Information: Banyak siswa yang kesulitan menemukan ide menarik saat menulis cerpen lalu beranggapan menulis cerpen adalah keterampilan yang sulit. Peneliti tertarik untuk menggunakan platform media sosial sebagai referensi siswa dalam menulis cerpen. Maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan media berita dalam Instagram, pengaruh penggunaan media audiovisual Tiktok, serta perbedaan pengaruh antara media berita dalam Instagram dan media audiovisual Tiktok terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen di kelas XI SMAN 2 Kota Serang. Penelitian dengan pendekatan kuantitatif ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain Pretest-Posttest control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling yang memunculkan kelas XI-7 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI-8 sebagai kelas kontrol. Data yang diperoleh berupa hasil tes menulis cerpen dari Pretest dan Posttest melalui perhitungan statistik dengan bantuan SPSS versi 26. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan uji t- dan uji N-Gain. Hasil uji t- menunjukkan signifikasi pada media berita dalam Instagram dan media audiovisual Tiktok sama-sama sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 sehingga Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Selanjutnya selisih pengaruh ditunjukan oleh N-Gain Score, media berita dalam Instagram memperoleh rata-rata 49,25 % dan media audiovisual Tiktok memperoleh rata-rata 31,75%. Uji signifikasi pengaruh kedua media tersebut menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi media berita dalam Instagram lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan media audiovisual Tiktok dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis cerpen di kelas XI SMAN 2 Kota Serang.
