Abstract
Analysis of Comparative Integrated Performance of 20 Ah VRLA Battery with 20 Ah Lithium-ion Battery in Photovoltaic Systems. This research compares the performance of a 20 Ah VRLA (Valve Ragulated Lead Acid) battery with a 20 Ah lithium-ion battery in a photovoltaic system, considering the importance of renewable energy to meet energy needs when fossil fuel reserves are running low. 87% of Indonesia has electricity and there are still 8.5 million people without access. Photovoltaics offer a solution, but they require an effective energy storage system. VRLA and lithium-ion batteries are the two main choices, each with advantages and disadvantages in terms of cost, energy density, and cycle life. This research aims to analyze the differences in performance, reliability and efficiency of the two types of batteries in the charging and discharging process. The method used involves measuring SOC (State of Charge) using current and voltage sensors, as well as a modified Coulomb Counting calculation method for accurate SOC estimation. The research results show that VRLA batteries experience a depreciation of 10% with an average charging value of 90603.9 A and discharging 85834.3 A, lithium-ion batteries have a longer cycle life and a lower DOD (Depth of Discharge) level of between 30% and 40%. The Coulomb Counting method shows the current decreases from 18000 mA to 4000 mA and the voltage decreases from 13.2 V to 11.0 V, indicating that lithium-ion batteries have higher efficiency and longer cycle life than VRLA, although VRLA shows stable performance under conditions certain.
