Abstract
Agricultural extension is an obligation given by the authorities to extension officers to change the behavior of farmers in order to improve the welfare of farmers' lives. In agricultural development, extension activities serve to link agricultural practices with developing knowledge and technology. This study aims to (1) determine how the role of field agricultural extension workers in empowering farmer groups and (2) see the relationship between the role of field agricultural extension officers and the empowerment of farmer groups in Kragilan District, Serang Regency. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research using the survey method. This research was conducted from May to June 2024. Respondents in this study amounted to 56 farmers who were members of farmer groups in the BPP-assisted area of Kragilan District, which were taken by the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling method. The types of data used in this study are primary and secondary data. The data that has been obtained is analyzed by quantitative descriptive method and chi square. The results obtained from this study show that as motivators, information providers, and facilitators, the role of extension officers in empowering farmer groups falls into the high category with percentages of 84.5% for PPL as motivators, 92.2% for PPL as information providers, and 92.8% for PPL as facilitators. Based on the chi square relationship test, there is a significant relationship between the role of extension workers and the empowerment of farmer groups in Kragilan District, Serang Regency with an Asymp Sig value > 0.05.

| Additional Information: | Penyuluhan pertanian merupakan kewajiban yang diberikan oleh pihak berwenang kepada para penyuluh untuk mengubah perilaku petani dalam rangka meningkatkan kesejahteraan hidup petani. Dalam pembangunan pertanian, kegiatan penyuluhan berfungsi untuk menghubungkan praktik-praktik pertanian dengan pengetahuan dan teknologi yang berkembang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui bagaimana peran penyuluh pertanian lapangan dalam upaya memberdayakan kelompok tani dan (2) melihat bagaimana hubungan antara peran penyuluh pertanian lapangan dengan pemberdayaan kelompok tani di Kecamatan Kragilan, Kabupaten Serang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif yang menggunakan metode survei. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Mei hingga Juni 2024. Responden dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 56 petani yang tergabung dalam kelompok tani di wilayah binaan BPP Kecamatan Kragilan yang diambil dengan metode Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Jenis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer dan sekunder. Data yang telah diperoleh dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dan chi square. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai motivator, pemberi informasi dan fasilitator, peran penyuluh dalam memberdayakan kelompok tani termasuk dalam kategori tinggi dengan persentase masing-masing 84,5% PPL sebagai motivator, 92,2% PPL sebagai pemberi informasi dan 92,8% PPL sebagai fasilitator. Berdasarkan uji hubungan chi square terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara peran penyuluh dengan pemberdayaan kelompok tani di Kecamatan Kragilan Kabupaten Serang dengan nilai Asymp Sig > 0,05. | |||||||||
