Abstract

This research was conducted based on a case study in the field on a 6 KV CCPP switchgear room's VRLA battery, serving as a backup power source charged under a floating voltage of 222 VDC. As a result, the battery experienced a failure in power input, leading to a decline in battery performance. Based on the battery's standard specification, it should be charged with a floating voltage of 247.5 VDC and a boosting voltage of 253 VDC. Due to the failure in power input, the battery experienced undercharging and overcharging. This study focuses on the impact of battery overcharging due to power input failure and analyzes the influence of temperature and internal resistance on battery overcharging. The method employed involves testing the battery capacity using a dummy load with different current loads for three testing sessions. The tests were carried out with loads of 5A, 30A, and 27A. The calculated results show battery efficiency of and 0,75%, with battery capacities of 120 Ah, 2,5 Ah, and 11,326 Ah, respectively. Based on the calculations and analysis, the solution to avoid power input failure is to reduce the number of battery cells and add protective relays to the charger as a high voltage cut off.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan study kasus dilapangan pada VRLA battery ruangan switchgear 6 KV CCPP sebagai back up daya yang di charge dibawah tegangan floating sebesar 222 VDC. Akibatnya, baterai tersebut mengalami kegagalan input daya yang berdampak pada performa baterai semakin menurun. Berdasarkan standar spesifikasi baterai di charge dengan tegangan floating sebesar 247,5 VDC dan boosting sebesar 253 VDC. Akibat kegagalan input daya tersebut mengakibatkan baterai undercharging dan overcharging. Pada penelitian ini berfokus pada pengaruh baterai overcharging akibat kegagalan input daya serta menganalisis pengaruh suhu dan internal resistance pada baterai overcharging. Metode yang dilakukan berupa pengujian pengosongan tes kapasitas baterai menggunakan dummy load dengan beban arus yang berbeda selama tiga kali pengujian. Pengujian dilakukan dengan beban 5A, 30A, dan 27A. didapatkan hasil perhitungan efisiensi baterai sebesar 8%, 0,1167%, dan 0,75% dengan kapasitas baterai sebesar 120 Ah, 2,5 Ah, dan 11,326 Ah. Berdasarkan perhitungan dan analisis maka didapatkan solusi untuk menghindari terjadinya kegagalan input daya dengan cara pengurangan jumlah sel baterai dan penambahan relay proteksi pada charger sebagai high voltage cut off.
