Abstract

Balance and quality nutrients in diet of broodstock could accelerate the process of gonad maturity. Protein contents of the nutrient is a major factor that determines the success of reproduction. The aim of this research was conducted to determine the best level of protein in diet to get the best reproduction performance of kissing gouramy broodstock. The broodstocks are obtained from Jambi with average body weight of 67.34±24.31 g for female, that were reared in fiber glass with 150 cm diameter and height 23 cm with density 50 L/fish. Those treatments were the commercial feed as control, level protein 32%, level protein 37% and level protein 42%. The fishes were kept for 104 days rearing, feeding frequency was three times a day at 08.00, 12.00 and 16.00 WIB with at satiation and male of broodstock that given with commercial feed. Spawning was conducted in semi natural with the ovaprim injection and let the broodstock spawned by itself in aquarium. The result of this research showed that the used diet with the different levels protein was significantly different (P<0.05) to fecundity, egg diameter and hatching rate. But it was not significantly different (P>0.05) to growth weight and gonado somatic index. The given of diet with level protein 42% give the best result of reproduction performance the broodstock of kissing gouramy interm to growth weight 7.24±5.95 g, gonado somatic index 7.93±0.58%, fecundity 26.046±2.187 eggs/ 100 g broodstock and hatching rate 85.33±5.51%.
