Abstract

Scarcity Fossil fuel scarcity is a serious challenge for the transportation sector, especially for motor vehicles that have relied on gasoline and diesel as their main energy sources for decades. In addition to scarcity, the use of fossil fuels in motor vehicles also causes excessive exhaust emissions, including carbon dioxide that contributes to global warming and climate change. To reduce dependence on fossil fuels and reduce exhaust emissions, ethanol has been developed as an alternative fuel. This research focuses on the effect of using ethanol as a mixture of Pertamax 92 fuel on exhaust emissions in the form of CO, HC, CO2, O2 gases. The method used is a descriptive data analysis method, where the data obtained from the research test results are entered in the table, and displayed in the form of a graph and then compared and analyzed the exhaust emission levels in the form of CO, HC, and CO2 and O2 gases. In this study obtained results in the form of, the addition of ethanol in this study can reduce exhaust emissions in the form of CO. The addition of ethanol in this study can reduce exhaust emissions in the form of HC. The best reduction in HC gas emissions occurred in the PE15% fuel mixture, where exhaust emissions decreased to 2316ppm compared to pure firstx fuel. The addition of ethanol in this study can increase CO2 levels.

Additional Information: Kelangkaan bahan bakar fosil menjadi tantangan serius bagi sektor transportasi, terutama bagi kendaraan bermotor yang mengandalkan bensin dan diesel sebagai sumber energi utam selama beberapa dekade. Selain kelangkaan, penggunaan bahan bakar fosil pada kendaraan bermotor juga menyebabkan emisi gas buang yang berlebihan, termasuk karbon dioksida yang berkontribusi terhadap pemanasan global dan perubahan iklim. Untuk mengurangi ketergantungan pada bahan bakar fosil dan menekan emisi gas buang, etanol telah dikembangkan sebagai bahan bakar alternatif. Penelitiam ini berfokus pada pengaruh penggunaan etanol sebagai campuran dari bahan bakar pertamax 92 terhadap emisi gas buang berupa gas CO, HC, CO2, O2. Metode yang digunakan merupakan metode analisis data deskriptif, dimana data yang diperoleh dari hasil pengujian penelitian dimasukkan pada tabel, dan ditampilkan dalam bentuk grafik kemudian dibandingkan dan dianalisis kadar emisi gas buang yang berupa gas CO, HC, dan CO2 dan O2. Pada penelitian ini didapatkan hasil berupa, penambahan etanol pada penelitian ini dapat menurunkan emisi gas buang berupa CO. Penambahan etanol pada penelitian ini dapat menurunkan emisi gas buang berupa HC. Penurunan emisi gas HC yang paling bagus terjadi pada campuran bahan bakar PE15%, yang mana emisi gas buang menurun menjadi 2316ppm dibandingkan dengan bahan bakar pertamax murni. Penambahan etanol pada penelitian ini dapat menaikan kadar CO2.
