Abstract

Along with the advancement of the times, the use of motor vehicles has led to an increased demand for fossil energy sources as the main fuel. Not only because of its dwindling availability, fossil fuel can also produce air pollution. Therefore, there is a need for alternative energy, one of which is hydrogen. In this thesis, the author analyzes the performance of a 2000cc gasoline engine with the use of hydrogen as a mixture with Pertamax fuel, varying the engine speeds at 2000, 2500, 3000, and 3500 rpm, as well as varying the hydrogen flow rates at 0.6, 1.2, and 1.8 lpm. The results obtained from the addition of hydrogen as a dual fuel have an impact on the increase in the alternator power output at a variation of 2000 RPM, where the difference between 0 lpm and 1.8 lpm of hydrogen results in a 15% increase in alternator power. The thermal efficiency also increases with the addition of LPM of hydrogen, reaching the highest efficiency value of 10.458%. The specific fuel consumption shows a decrease at 2000 RPM, with a reduction of 34% between 0 LPM and 1.8 LPM. The values for HC and CO emissions decrease, while O2 decreases and CO2 increases with the addition of LPM of hydrogen. In the economic analysis, an average total price increase of 153% was obtained at the 2000 RPM variation.

Additional Information: Seiring dengan kemajuan zaman penggunaan kendaraan bermotor berakibat pada meningkatnya kebutuhan akan sumber energi fosil sebagai bahan bakar pokok. Tidak hanya karena ketersediaannya yang menipis, bahan bakar dari energi fosil pun dapat menghasilkan polusi udara. Maka dari itu perlu adanya energi alternatif, salah satunya hidrogen. Hidrogen bisa menjadi bahan bakar yang sangat potensial karena sifatnya yang ramah lingkungan. Mengintegrasikan hidrogen ke dalam mesin bensin konvensional menawarkan keuntungan dalam mengurangi emisi polutan seperti karbon monoksida (CO) dan hidrokarbon (HC), sekaligus meningkatkan efisiensi termal mesin. Pada skripsi ini penulis menganalisa unjuk kerja mesin bensin 2000cc terhadap penggunaan hidrogen sebagai campuran bahan bakar pertamax dengan variasi putaran mesin 2000, 2500, 3000, dan 3500 rpm serta variasi lpm (liter per minute) hidrogen yaitu 0,6, 1,2, dan 1,8 lpm hidrogen. Analisia kinerja mesin bensin menggunakan campuran bahan bakar pertamax dan hydrogen akan membandingkan pengaruh pada daya, specific fuel consumtion (sfc), efisiensi termal mesin, dan juga emisi yang dihasilkan. Hasil yang didapat dengan penambahan hydrogen sebagai dual fuel berpengaruh terhadap kenaikan pada nilai daya alternator pada variasi 2000 RPM antara 0 lpm dan 1,8 lpm hidrogen menghasilkan kenaikan sebesar 15% pada daya alternator, efisiensi thermal yang mengalami kenaikan seiring penambahan lpm hidrogen dengan nilai efisiensi tertinggi sebesar 10,458%. Nilai specific fuel consumption mengalami penurunan pada RPM 2000 antara 0 lpm dan 1,8 lpm terjadi penurunan sfc sebesar 34%. Pada nilai emisi HC dan CO mengalami penurunan dan pada O2 mengalami penurunan serta CO2 mengalami kenaikan seiring penambahan lpm hidrogen. Pada Analisa ekonomi diperoleh kenaikan harga total rata-rata pada variasi 2000 RPM sebesar 153%.
