Abstract
The extension activities carried out in each region are encouraged to encourage morale encouragement, encouragement and motivation of farmers to continue to carry out cultivation activities not only in plantation crops, food crops, medicinal plants but also should try to breed other crops, which currently have prospects A good market one of which is Melon Fruit. Food Security and Agriculture Department of Cilegon City is one of the government institutions that actively conducts farmers' development programs, especially melon farmers in Cilegon City. The program has been running for five years from 2009. Some of the reasons driving the Food and Agriculture Department of Cilegon City are conducting the development of melon farmers, among others, to increase the production and availability of melon fruit in Banten Province and surrounding areas and to increase the potential of Cilegon region For the cultivation of melons, as well as improving the welfare of melon farmers. This study aims to determine the role of agricultural extension workers as teachers, analyzers, advisors, and organizers. The research method used is the survey method Determination of research location done intentionally or purposive that is in Cilegon City of Banten Province. The research instrument used is questionnaire questionnaire with measurement using Likert scale. The respondent used is census method, where the entire population is used as research sample. The results showed the role of agricultural extension workers in Cilegon City of Banten Province according to the farmer's appraisal in terms of the role of extension as the majority teacher is considered "good enough" with 56% percentage. The extensionist's role as a majority analyzer is rated "good" with a percentage of 48%. The role of counselor as a majority advisor is considered "good enough" with a percentage of 60%. The role of extensionists as organizers has a "good enough" rating with a 52% percentage.

| Additional Information: | Kegiatan penyuluhan yang dilaksanakan disetiap daerah diupayakan dapat memberikan semangat, dorongan dan motivasi petani secara moril agar tetap terus melaksanakan kegiatan budidaya tidak hanya pada tanaman perkebunan, tanaman pangan, tanaman obat-obatan tetapi juga harus mencoba membududayakan tanaman lainnya, yang pada saat ini memiliki prospek pasar yang baik salah satunya adalah Buah Melon. Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Pertanian Kota Cilegon merupakan salah satu lembaga pemerintah yang aktif melakukan program pembinaan petani khususnya petani melon di Kota Cilegon. Program tersebut telah berjalan selama lima tahun dari tahun 2009. Beberapa alasan yang mendorong Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Pertanian Kota Cilegon melakukan pembinaan petani melon, antara lain ingin meningkatkan jumlah produksi dan ketersediaan buah melon di Provinsi Banten dan sekitarnya dan ingin meningkatkan potensi wilayah Cilegon yang cocok untuk budidaya melon, serta meningkatkan kesejahteraan petani melon. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan penyuluh pertanian sebagai guru, penganalisis, penasehat,dan organisator. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode survey Penetapan lokasi penelitian dilakukan secara sengaja atau purposive yaitu di Kota Cilegon Provinsi Banten. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu angket kuesioner dengan pengukuran menggunakan skala likert. pengambilan responden yang digunakan ialah dengan metode sensus, dimana seluruh populasi dijadikan sampel penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukan Peran penyuluh pertanian di Kota Cilegon Provinsi Banten menurut penilaian petani dari segi peran penyuluh sebagai guru mayoritas dinilai “cukup baik” dengan presentase 56%. Peran penyuluh sebagai penganalisis mayoritas dinilai “baik” dengan presentase 48%. Peran penyuluh sebagai penasehat mayoritas dinilai “cukup baik” dengan presentase 60%. Peran penyuluh sebagai organisator memiliki penilaian “cukup baik” dengan presentase 52%. | |||||||||
