Abstract

This research is expected to have both theoretical and practical benefits. Theoretically, it will contribute insights for future studies and suggest training programs for small island communities. Practically, it aims to educate the community about vocational skills, enhance understanding among scientists, aid small island communities, provide knowledge about electricity usage on Sangiang Island, and serve as a reference for students at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. This qualitative research employed ethnographic methods, involving direct immersion in the research location to gather essential data from the community. The findings are valuable for future research or dissertations on similar topics. Despite enduring agrarian conflict and government neglect for around 30 years, Sangiang Island residents exhibit remarkable resilience. Despite lacking basic services like electricity, schools, and health facilities, they've developed vocational skills to cope, with some resorting to creative means of livelihood like selling pumice stones and plastic cups. Yet, government negligence poses challenges, notably in education access, forcing children off the island for schooling, showcasing a breach of their constitutional rights. Nevertheless, Sangiang Island residents persist, showcasing resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
