Abstract
The Velocity of Money (V) is a measure of how often a unit of money is used to purchase domestic goods and services within a certain period of time. The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of cashless payment system on Velocity of Money in ASEAN-4. This study covers 4 ASEAN countries consisting of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. This study uses panel data using the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) method. The results of this study indicate that in the short-term period Electronic Money, Debit Cards, Interest Rates and Exchange Rates have no significant effect on the Velocity of Money. In contrast, the amount of money in circulation has a significant negative effect on the Velocity of Money in the short term. Meanwhile, in the long term, the variables of electronic money, money in circulation, interest rates and exchange rates have a significant negative effect on the Velocity of Money. Meanwhile, the Debit Card variable has a significant positive effect on the Velocity of Money. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that the government and the Central Bank will be more selective in choosing policies that must be carried out in perfecting the vision of improving the digital economy so that the non-cash payment system and monetary policy used can encourage the Velocity of Money.

| Additional Information: | Kecepatan perputaran uang (V), atau Velocity of Money, adalah ukuran seberapa sering satu unit uang yang digunakan untuk membeli barang dan jasa domestik dalam jangka waktu tertentu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh sistem pembayaran non-tunai terhadap Velocity of Money di ASEAN-4. Penelitian ini meliputi 4 Negara ASEAN yang terdiri dari Filipina, Indonesia, Malaysia dan Thailand. Penelitian ini menggunakan data panel dengan menggunakan metode Pooled Mean Group (PMG). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam periode jangka pendek Uang Elektronik, Kartu Debit, Suku Bunga dan Nilai Tukar tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Velocity of Money. Sebaliknya, Jumlah Uang Beredar berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap Velocity of Money dalam jangka pendek. Sementara, dalam jangka panjang varibael Uang Elektronik, Jumlah Uang Beredar, Suku Bunga dan Nilai Tukar berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap Velocity of Money. Sedangkan variabel Kartu Debit berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap Velocity of Money. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini diharapkan pemerintah dan Bank Sentral agar lebih selektif dalam memilih kebijakan yang harus dilakukan dalam menyempurnakan visi peningkatan ekonomi digital agar sistem pembayaran non-tunai dan kebijakan moneter yang digunakan dapat mendorong Velocity of Money. | |||||||||
