Abstract

This study examined the effect of tuber cutting and combination of planting media on the growth and yield of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) in the hydroponic wick system. This research was conducted from February to May 2024 at Kp Pekong, Saga, Tangerang, Banten. This study used a factorial Randomized Group Design (RGD). The first factor, shallot bulb cutting (P), consisted of 4 levels: no cutting (P0), cutting ¼ of the top of the bulb (P1), cutting the root part of the bulb (P2), and cutting ¼ of the top and root part of the bulb (P3). The second factor, the combination of planting media (M), consisted of 3 levels: husk charcoal (M1), husk charcoal + cocopeat (1:1) (M2), and husk charcoal + cocopeat (1:2) (M3). The results showed that cutting the root part of the bulb gives the best effect on plant height and bulb diameter, and cutting ¼ of the top of the bulb gives the best effect on number of tillers and number of bulbs. The use of husk charcoal + cocopeat (1:1) media affected the growth and yield of shallot plants in addition to the number of bulbs. There was an interaction between cutting the root part of the bulb and planting media of husk charcoal + cocopeat (1:1) on plant height 14 Day After Planting (DAP) and bulb diameter, and cutting ¼ of the top of the bulb and planting media of husk charcoal + cocopeat (1:1) on dry weight per clump.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh pemotongan umbi dan kombinasi media tanam terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil bawang merah (Allium ascalonicum L.) pada sistem hidroponik wick system. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari hingga Mei 2024 di Kp Pekong, Saga, Tangerang, Banten. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial. Faktor pertama, pemotongan umbi bawang merah (P), terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu tanpa pemotongan (P0), pemotongan ¼ bagian atas umbi (P1), pemotongan bonggol akar umbi (P2), dan pemotongan ¼ bagian atas dan bonggol akar umbi (P3). Faktor kedua, kombinasi media tanam (M), terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu arang sekam (M1), arang sekam + cocopeat (1:1) (M2), dan arang sekam + cocopeat (1:2) (M3). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemotongan bonggol akar umbi memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap tinggi tanaman dan diameter umbi, dan pemotongan ¼ bagian atas umbi memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap jumlah anakan dan jumlah umbi. Penggunaan media arang sekam + cocopeat (1:1) berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman bawang merah selain jumlah umbi. Terdapat interaksi antara pemotongan bonggol akar umbi dan media tanam arang sekam + cocopeat (1:1) terhadap tinggi tanaman umur 14 HST dan diameter umbi, serta pemotongan ¼ bagian atas umbi dan media tanam arang sekam + cocopeat (1:1) terhadap berat kering per rumpun.
