Abstract

In the movie Barbie 2023 Barbie uses her belief system to predict the world. Barbie's belief that the world is perfect, women are powerful, everyone loves me does not match the reality that Barbie adheres to. Departing from this phenomenon, the author decided to conduct a deeper study of the Barbie 2023 film in order to understand the messages contained in the film using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis. The purpose of this study is to determine the depiction of cognitive dissonance experienced by the Barbie character in Barbie 2023 based on representament, object and interpretent. The type of research used is qualitative with descriptive method, Charles Sanders Peirce semiotic analysis which specifically examines representament, object and interpretent. From the results of the study it is known that the Barbie character in the movie Barbie 2023 several times experienced cognitive dissonance. Barbie character experiences several forms of cognitive dissonance that exist. The source of cognitive dissonance that occurs in Barbie is caused by logical inconsistencies, general opinions, and past experiences.

Additional Information:	Pada film Barbie 2023 Barbie menggunakan sistem kepercayaannya untuk memprediksi dunia. Keyakinan Barbie bahwa dunia ini sempurna, wanita berkuasa, semua orang mencintai saya tidak sesuai dengan kenyataan yang dianut oleh Barbie. Berangkat dari fenomena tersebut, maka penulis memutuskan untuk melakukan kajian lebih mendalam terhadap film Barbie 2023 dalam rangka memahami pesan yang terkandung dalam film tersebut menggunakan analisis semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penggambaran disonansi kognitif yang dialami oleh tokoh Barbie dalam film Barbie 2023 berdasarkan representament, objek dan interpretent. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif, analisis semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce yang khusus menelaah representament, objek dan interpretent. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa tokoh Barbie dalam film Barbie 2023 mengalami disonansi kognitif. Tokoh Barbie mengalami beberapa bentuk disonansi kognitif yang ada. Adapun sumber penyebab disonansi kognitif yang terjadi pada Barbie disebabkan oleh inkonsistensi logika, pendapat umum, dan pengalaman masa lalu.
