Abstract

Fluidized bed reactor (FBR) is one of the reactors that has favorable characteristics for many industries compared to fixed bed reactors. One of the methods used to study FBR is the computational fluid dynamic (CFD) method. CFD can simulate fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer, multiphase flow, chemical reactions, fluid interactions with structures and acoustic systems with computer modeling. This research was conducted to investigate the effect of changes in gas velocity, bed height, resin particle size and gas density on fluidization behavior in order to determine optimal fluidization conditions. This research used GAMBIT 2.4.6 for build geometri, thus simulation process used ANSYS FLUENT Student Version 12.0 The equation model for the gas-solid interaction used is eularianeularian, while the turbulent method used is − .
