Abstract
Education is important for human life, creating a superior mindset in the era of globalization with the encouragement of curriculum components. The development and implementation of a scientific-based curriculum are included in the national education development strategy by requiring critical thinking skills to overcome a problem. Meanwhile, the learning process in scientific development to foster critical thinking skills in students in schools is still lacking due to the availability of less-than-optimal teaching materials. Therefore, the development of teaching materials, such as e-books, is needed to foster critical thinking skills based on a scientific approach. E-book teaching materials can implement technological developments concisely and dynamically. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of validity of e-books based on a scientific approach to foster critical thinking skills. The method used is research and development of the 4D model modified by Thiagaradjan. The study was conducted with 3 stages define, design, and develop. The instruments used were validation sheets by material expert lecturers, media expert lecturers, and junior high school science teachers in three different schools, SMPN 5 Rangkasbitung, SMPN 10 Kota Serang, and SMPN 6 Pasarkemis. The results show that the e-book development process is carried out using three stages: identifying problems (define), producing products (design), and obtaining product feasibility (develop). The level of e-book feasibility based on a scientific approach to foster critical thinking skills on the theme of the dangers of smoking gets a very valid category from material experts (85.19%), media experts (91.66%), and junior high school science teachers (83.48%). Based on the overall validation value, an average of 86.78% is included in the very valid category.

Additional Information: | Pendidikan termasuk hal penting bagi kehidupan manusia, menciptakan pola pikir yang unggul di era globalisasi dengan dorongan komponen kurikulum. Pengembangan serta pelaksanaan kurikulum berbasis saintifik termasuk dalam strategi pembangunan pendidikan nasional dengan membutuhkan kemampuan berpikir kritis untuk mengatasi suatu masalah. Adapun, proses pembelajaran dalam pengembangan saintifik untuk menumbuhkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik di sekolah masih kurang karena ketersediaan bahan ajar yang kurang optimal. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan pengembangan bahan ajar untuk menumbuhkan kemampuan berpikir kritis seperti e-book berbasis pendekatan saintifik. Bahan ajar e-book dapat mengimplementasikan perkembangan teknologi secara ringkas dan dinamis. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tingkat kevalidan e-book berbasis pedekatan saintifik untuk menumbuhkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan model 4D yang dimodifikasi oleh Thiagaradjan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan 3 tahapan define, design dan develop. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar validasi oleh dosen ahli materi, dosen ahli media dan guru IPA SMP di tiga sekolah berbeda yaitu SMPN 5 Rangkasbitung, SMPN 10 Kota Serang dan SMPN 6 Pasarkemis. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa proses pengembangan e-book dilakukan menggunakan tiga tahapan seperti identifikasi masalah (define), menghasilkan produk (design) dan mendapatkan kelayakan produk (develop). Tingkat kelayakan e-book berbasis pendekatan saintifik untuk menumbuhkan kemampuan berpikir kritis tema bahaya merokok mendapatkan kategori sangat valid dari ahli materi (85,19%), ahli media (91,66%) dan guru IPA SMP (83,48%). Berdasarkan nilai validasi secara keseluruhan mendapatkan rata-rata 86,78% yang termasuk kategori sangat valid. | |||||||||
