Abstract

This research is motivated by the obstacles found in the learning process of natural science and it is found that students' science communication skills have not been implemented optimally so that these skills are felt to be lacking. Student science communication skills can be optimally owned by students by training them through learning using interactive powerpoint. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate interactive powerpoint learning media on the theme of acid rain that is oriented towards the science communication skills of class VII students. This research is included in development research with the 4D model, namely: define, design, development and disseminate, but this research is narrowed only to the development stage. This is because this research is only to develop and measure the level of validity of the media. In addition, researchers have limited time and energy so that the disseminate stage is not carried out. The instrument used in this study was a validation sheet which was filled in by expert lecturers from FKIP Untirta and Middle School Science teachers. The research results showed that the interactive PowerPoint media was developed using the Thiagarajan 4D model. In this research, it can be seen that the level of validity is included in the valid category with an average percentage value of 80%.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi pada kendala yang ditemukan dalam proses pembelajaran ilmu pengetahuan alam dan didapatkan keterampilan komunikasi sains siswa belum dilaksanakan secara maksimal sehingga dirasa keterampilan tersebut masih kurang. Keterampilan komunikasi sains siswa dapat secara optimal dimiliki siswa dengan melatihnya melalui pembelajaran menggunakan powerpoint interaktif. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan serta memvalidasi media pembelajaran powerpoint interaktif pada tema hujan asam yang berorientasi pada keterampilan komunikasi sains siswa kelas VII. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian pengembangan dengan model 4D, yaitu: define, design, development dan disseminate, namun penelitian ini dipersempit hanya sampai tahap development. Hal ini karena pada penelitian ini hanya untuk mengembangkan serta mengukur tingkat kevalidan dari media. Selain itu, peneliti memiliki keterbatasan waktu serta tenaga sehingga tahap disseminate tidak dilakukan. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar validasi yang diisi oleh dosen ahli FKIP Untirta dan Guru IPA SMP. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media powerpoint interaktif yang dikembangkan menggunakan model 4D Thiagarajan. Pada penelitian ini dapat diketahui tingkat kevalidan termasuk ke dalam kategori valid dengan nilai persentase rata-rata 80%.
