Abstract

This research aims to determine the estimated value of biomass, carbon stock, and carbon sequestration in mangrove forests of Ujung Kulon National Park and the research data is implemented in biology learning about biogeochemical cycle material, especially the carbon cycle. This research used quantitative method. The method of determining the sampling location is purposive sampling at four research station, namely station I (Handeleum), station II (Cigenter), station III (Ciujung Kulon) and station IV (Cidaon). Data collection of mangrove vegetation samples using line transect quadrat method and non-destructive sampling method. The results obtained 10 species of mangroves found, mangrove species found at the four stations were Rhizophora mucronata and Sonneratia alba. The research station has the highest biomass value, carbon stock and carbon sequestration is station I (Handeleum) with a biomass value of 1375,6 tons/ha, carbon stock of 646,56 tons/ha, and carbon sequestratin of 2372,92 tons/ha, while the lowest research station is station IV (Cidaon) with a biomass value of 1042,65 tons/ha, carbon stock of 490,04 tons/ha, and carbon sequestration of 1798,49 tons/ha. The research data can be implemented as a learning resource that contains learning content containing the linkage of research results with class X high school biology material regarding the carbon cycle in the form of booklet and poster.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai estimasi biomassa, stok karbon, dan serapan karbon pada hutan mangrove di Kawasan Taman Nasional Ujung Kulon dan mengimplementasikan data penelitian pada pembelajaran biologi mengenai materi siklus biogeokimia khususnya siklus karbon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Metode penentuan lokasi sampling adalah purposive sampling pada empat stasiun penelitian, yaitu stasiun I (Handeleum), stasiun II (Cigenter), stasiun III (Ciujung Kulon) dan stasiun IV (Cidaon). Pengambilan data sampel vegetasi mangrove menggunakan metode line transect quadrat dan metode non-destructive sampling. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 10 jenis mangrove yang ditemukan, jenis mangrove yang ditemukan pada keempat stasiun yaitu Rhizophora mucronata dan Sonneratia alba. Stasiun penelitian yang memiliki nilai biomassa, stok karbon, dan serapan karbon tertinggi yaitu stasiun I (Handeleum) dengan nilai biomassa sebesar 1375,6 ton/ha, stok karbon sebesar 646,56 ton/ha, dan serapan karbon sebesar 2372,92 ton/ha, sedangkan stasiun penelitian terendah yaitu stasiun IV (Cidaon) dengan nilai biomassa sebesar 1042,65 ton/ha, stok karbon sebesar 490,04 ton/ha, dan serapan karbon sebesar 1798,49 ton/ha. Data hasil penelitian dapat diimplementasikan sebagai sumber belajar yang memuat konten pembelajaran berisi keterkaitan hasil penelitian dengan materi biologi SMA kelas X mengenai siklus karbon berupa booklet dan poster.
