Abstract

Emotional intelligence is a person's ability to regulate emotions, maintain emotions and express them through self-awareness, self-control, empathy, self- motivation and social skills. As is done by students at SMA Negeri 1 Tirtayasa who are able to control their thoughts, feelings and actions regarding other people's behavior towards themselves. But there are some students who still cannot control their thoughts, feelings and actions towards other people. Therefore, teachers must always remind and provide direction to students. The aim of this research is to determine the role of sociology teachers in efforts to develop students' emotional intelligence at SMA Negeri 1 Tirtayasa. This research uses qualitative methods using descriptive methods. The sources for this research are primary data and secondary data, with informants from school principals, sociology teachers and students. data collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research are that the principal and teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Tirtayasa always instill the habit of reciting the Koran together in the school environment and in the classroom before learning takes place. This can help students to control their emotions so that students have good attitudes and behavior, from these efforts create good emotional intelligence possessed by students at SMA Negeri 1 Tirtayasa.

Additional Information: Kecerdasan emosional merupakan kemampuan seseorang untuk mengatur emosi, menjaga emosi, dan pengungkapan melalui kesadaran diri, pengendalian diri, empati, motivasi diri, dan keterampilan sosial. Seperti yang dilakukan oleh peserta didik di SMA Negeri 1 Tirtayasa yang sudah bisa untuk mengontrol pikiran, perasaan dan tindakannya terhadap prilaku orang lain kepada dirinya. Tetapi ada beberapa peserta didik yang masih belum bisa mngontrol pikiran, perasaan, dan tindakannya terhadap orang lain. Maka dari itu guru harus selalu mengingatkan dan memberikan arahan kepada peserta didik. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui peran guru sosiologi dalam upaya mengembangkan kecerdasan emosional siswa di SMA Negeri 1 Tirtayasa. penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode desktiptif. Adapun sumber dari penelitian ini berupa data primer dan data skunder, dengan informan kepala sekolah, guru sosiologi, dan peserta didik. data yang dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil dalam penelitian ini ialah kepala sekolah dan guru di SMA Negeri 1 Tirtayasa senantiasa menanamkan kebiasaan untuk mengaji bersama di lingkungan sekolah maupun di dalam kelas sebelum pembelajaran berlangsung. Hal tersebut dapat membantu siswa untuk dapat mengontrol emosi diri sehingga siswa memiliki sikap dan perilaku yang baik, dari upaya tersebut menciptakan kecerdasan emosional baik yang dimiliki oleh siswa di SMA Negeri 1 Tirtayasa.
