Abstract

The use of solar panels often encounters environmental issues. One of the environmental parameters that can affect the performance of solar panels is partial shading, where a portion of the photovoltaic cells is covered by shadows from clouds or nearby buildings, preventing the solar radiation from being fully captured by the panels. This issue results in a significant reduction in the power output of the solar panels and may cause the panels to stop producing electricity and become a passive load. The main objective of this study is to diagnose the impact of partial shading variations on several testing parameters such as current, voltage, and power output of solar panels. The research method involves using a data logger to record data including current, voltage, solar radiation, and temperature. The results show that an increase in solar radiation received by the solar panels boosts the current and power output. At 12:00, the highest power output with 25% partial shading is 269.95 watts for monocrystalline panels and 235.86 watts for polycrystalline panels. Horizontal partial shading reduces the power output and current of solar panels more significantly than vertical partial shading, as horizontal shading decreases the sunlight received due to the shading between cells.

Additional Information: Penggunaan panel surya sering kali mengalami masalah terhadap lingkungan. Beberapa parameter lingkungan yang dapat mempengaruhi kinerja dari panel surya salah satunya tertutupnya sebagian permukaan sel surya (partial shading). Partial shading effect (efek bayangan) adalah kondisi dimana salah satu atau sebagian sel photovoltaic dari panel surya tertutup yang disebabkan oleh bayangan awan atau gedung di sekitar, sehingga pancaran radiasi matahari tidak sepenuhnya tertangkap oleh panel surya. Masalah yang ditimbulkan akibat partial shading yaitu berkurangnya nilai daya keluaran dari panel surya secara signifikan serta panel surya akan berhenti memproduksi energi listrik dan berubah menjadi beban pasif. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini untuk mendiagnosis pengaruh dari pemodelan variasi partial shading terhadap beberapa parameter pengujian seperti arus, tegangan, dan besar daya keluaran yang dihasilkan oleh panel surya. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan data logger sebagai alat perekaman data meliputi arus, tegangan, radiasi matahari, dan suhu. Hasil penelitian ini meliputi, kenaikan nilai radiasi matahari yang diterima panel surya akan meningkatkan nilai arus dan daya keluaran panel surya terbukti pada pukul 12:00 nilai daya keluaran tertinggi dengan partial shading 25% adalah sebesar 269,95 Watt untuk panel surya monocrystalline dan 235,86 pada panel surya polycrystalline. Partial shading horizontal menurunkan daya keluaran dan arus panel surya lebih jauh dibandingkan partial shading vertikal, karena partial shading horizontal mengurangi cahaya matahari yang diterima akibat bayangan antar sel.
