Abstract

ABSTRACT ELANJAYA SAKTA. Implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education(RME) Approach Based on Banten Culture Team Quize Type TowardsCommunication Ability and Mathematical Disposition of Junior High SchoolStudents. Research Paper.Serang: Mathematics Education Program. TheDepartemen of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Faculty of TeacherTraining and Education. 2014 The background of this study was the ability of communicationand mathematicaldisposition was very low. This was due to the learning activities that were stilldominated by the activity of the teachers and didnot associate the material withcontextual problems experienced by students. Based on thiscase, the effort thatshould be done was by using the implementation of realistic mathematicseducation (RME)approach basedon Banten culture team quize typeas a learningtool that offers a learning concept that helps students in foster mathematicalcommunication abilityand dispositions. The purpose of this study was: was theultimate achievement andthe improvement ofcommunication ability andstudentsmathematical disposition which were given in learning process with theimplementation of RMEapproachbased onBantenculture team quiz type wasbetter than the students who get regular learning. This study used a quasi-experimental methods. The population in this study is Junior High School ateighth grade students in the Serangcityand the sample was taken two classes in acluster random sampling. The instrument used was a test of mathematicalcommunication ability and dispositions scale. From this study it could beconcluded that the final achievement and improvementofcommunication abilityand disposition given students' mathematical learning with the application of aculture-based approach RMEBanten type quiz team better than the students whoget regular learning. Hal ini disebabkan oleh kegiatan pembelajaran yangmasih didominasi oleh aktivitas guru serta tidak mengkaitkan materi denganpermasalahan kontekstual yang dialami oleh siswa. Berdasarkan hal tersebut,upaya yang dilakukan adalah dengan menggunakan penerapan pendekatanrealistic mathematics education(RME)berbasis budaya Banten tipe teamquizsebagai sarana pembelajaran yang menawarkan suatu konsep belajar yangmembantu siswa dalammenumbuhkan kemampuan komunikasi dan disposisimatematis.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah:apakah pencapaian akhir kemampuandan peningkatan komunikasi dan disposisi matematis siswa yang diberikanpembelajaran dengan penerapan pendekatan RME berbasis budaya Banten tipeteam quiz lebih baik dari pada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran biasa.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitianini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri di Kota Serang dan sampelnya adalah duakelas yang diambil secaracluster random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakanadalah tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan skala disposisi.Dari penelitianini dapat disimpulkan bahwa pencapaian akhir kemampuan dan peningkatankomunikasi dan disposisi matematis siswa yang diberikan pembelajaran denganpenerapan pendekatan RME berbasis budaya Banten tipe team quizlebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran biasa.
