Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the influence of international economic activity variables which include Exports, Imports, Investment and Tourism on Foreign Exchange Reserves. The research data used is panel data with a cross-section of ASEAN-5 countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines) and a time series from the period 1995 to 2023. This data was obtained from the World Bank database. This research aims to determine the long-term and short-term relationship between Exports, Imports, Foreign Direct Investment and Tourism on Foreign Exchange Reserves in ASEAN-5 for the 1995-2023 period. This research uses the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) analysis model using Eviews 10 software. The results of this research show that in the long term the Export, Import and Tourism variables have a positive and significant influence on Foreign Exchange Reserves. Meanwhile, the Foreign Direct Investment variable has a negative and significant influence on Foreign Exchange Reserves in ASEAN-5 for the 1995-2023 period. The results in the short term of the Export, Import, Foreign Direct Investment and Tourism variables have an influence on Foreign Exchange Reserves in ASEAN-5 for the 1995-2023 period.
