Abstract

As the population in Indonesia increases, the demand for electricity also increases. On this basis, it is necessary to develop sustainable alternative energy, one of which is through Hydroelectric Power Plants (PLTA) by utilizing river water flow as the main energy which includes renewable energy and can reduce carbon emissions. The principle of operation of Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) is by utilizing the potential energy in reservoir water into mechanical motion energy through water turbines and from mechanical energy into electrical energy with the help of generators. This research was conducted to determine how much storage capacity of the Sindang Heula Reservoir that can be used as a Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) and the potential electrical power that can be generated from the Sindang Heula Reservoir. Methods used in hydrological analysis are the NRECA method to determine the mainstay discharge and the Penmann method to determine the amount of evapotranspiration that occurs. The next stage is carried out hydraulic analysis to determine and determine the energy loss in the pipe based on the planned layout by minimizing energy loss that occurs in the pipe. From the analysis that has been done, it is known that the Sindang Heula Reservoir storage discharge needed to be used for Hydroelectric Power Plant is 11,990,592 m3 and the electric power that can be generated with a pump discharge of 0.2 m3 and a turbine efficiency of 88% is 9281.48 kW.

Additional Information: Seiring meningkatnya jumlah penduduk di indonesia mengakibatkan kebutuhan masyarakat akan energi listrik juga semakin meningkat. Atas dasar tersebut maka perlu dikembangkan energi alternatif yang berlanjutan salah satunya melalui Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air (PLTA) dengan memanfaatkan aliran air sungai sebagai energi utama yang termasuk energi terbarukan dan dapat mengurangi emisi karbon. Prinsip pengoperasian Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air (PLTA) adalah dengan memanfaatkan energi potensial pada air waduk menjadi energi gerak mekanik melalui turbin air dan dari energi mekanik menjadi energi listrik dengan bantuan generator. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kapasitas tampungan Waduk Sindang Heula yang dapat digunakan sebagai Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air (PLTA) dan potensi daya listrik yang dapat dihasilkan dari Waduk Sindang Heula. Metode yang digunakan dalam analisis hidrologi adalah metode NRECA untuk menentukan debit andalan dan metode Penmann untuk menentukan besarnya Evapotranspirasi yang terjadi. Tahap selanjutnya dilakukan analisis hidraulika untuk menentukan dan mengetahui kehilangan energi pada pipa berdasarkan Layout yang telah direncanakan dengan meminimalisir kehilangan energi yang terjadi pada pipa. Dari analisis yang telah dilakukan, diketahui tampungan Waduk Sindang Heula yang dibutuhkan agar dapat dipergunakan untuk Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air sebesar 11.990.592 m3 dan daya listrik yang dapat dihasilkan dengan debit pengambilan pompa sebesar 0,2 m3 serta efisiensi turbin 88% sebesar 9281,48 kW.
