Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using Snakes and Ladders game media in reducing online game addiction among fifth grade students at SDN Serang 3. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The subjects of the study were fifth grade students with high levels of online game addiction. Data were collected using an online game addiction questionnaire and analyzed using the t-test. The results showed that there was a significant effect of using Snakes and Ladders game media in reducing online game addiction. The t-test results showed a t value of -5.669 with p < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. The average score of online game addiction in the experimental group decreased from 23.857 in the pretest to 13.714 in the posttest, which is a decrease of 42.52%. Meanwhile, the control group showed an increase in the average score from 22.571 in the pretest to 24.857 in the posttest, which is an increase of 10.13%. These findings indicate that Snakes and Ladders game can be an effective media in group counseling to reduce online game addiction among elementary school students. It is recommended that school counselors consider using game media in their intervention programs to address online game addiction issues.

Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V yang memiliki kecanduan game online tinggi. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner kecanduan game online dan dianalisis menggunakan uji t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan penggunaan permainan Ular Tangga dalam mereduksi kecanduan game online. Hasil uji t menunjukkan nilai t sebesar -5,669 dengan p < 0,05, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Rata-rata skor kecanduan game online pada kelompok eksperimen menunjukkan penurunan dari 23,857 pada pretest menjadi 13,714 pada posttest, yang berarti ada penurunan sebesar 42,52%. Sementara itu, kelompok kontrol menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata skor dari 22,571 pada pretest menjadi 24,857 pada posttest, yang berarti ada peningkatan sebesar 10,13% . Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa permainan Ular Tangga efektif sebagai media konseling kelompok untuk mengurangi kecanduan game online pada siswa sekolah dasar. Disarankan kepada konselor sekolah untuk menggunakan media permainan dalam program intervensi mereka untuk menangani masalah kecanduan game online.
