Abstract

Oryzias woworae is an endemic freshwater fish of Muna Island, Southeast Sulawesi. Its unique coloration and endemic status make O. woworae attractive as an ornamental fish. The population of this fish is decreasing so that it is threatened with extinction in its habitat. Spirulina can be used as a substitute for synthetic hormones in improving fish reproductive performance by adding it to feed, but the use of spirulina competes with other industries as cosmetic and food ingredients. One ingredient that has the potential to improve reproductive performance in O. woworae fish is kebar grass. Kebar grass (Biophytum sp.) is a plant that is spread throughout Indonesia and has not been widely utilized. The active ingredients of kebar grass are amino acids, saponins, steroids, and flavonoids that are useful for increasing and improving reproductive performance. This study was conducted from October to November 2023 consisting of 4 treatments, namely the addition of 0% Biophytum sp., 5% Biophytum sp., 10% Biophytum sp., and 20% Biophytum sp.. The results showed that the administration of Biophytum sp. grass simplisia did not have a significant effect on the number of reproduction of O. woworae in treatments A, B, C, and D, but in the treatment given Biophytum sp. 20% (treatment D) there was a tendency to increase reproductive performance compared to without the administration of Biophytum sp..

Additional Information: Oryzias woworae merupakan ikan endemik perairan tawar Pulau Muna, Sulawesi Tenggara. Warnanya yang unik dan status endemiknya menjadikan O. woworae menarik sebagai ikan hias. Populasi ikan ini semakin berkurang sehingga terancam punah di habitatnya. Spirulina dapat digunakan sebagai pengganti hormon sintetik dalam meningkatkan performa reproduksi ikan dengan menambahkannya pada pakan, namun penggunaan spirulina bersaing dengan industri lain sebagai bahan kosmetik dan makanan. Salah satu bahan yang berpotensi meningkatkan kinerja reproduksi pada ikan O. woworae adalah rumput kebar. Rumput kebar (Biophytum sp.) merupakan tanaman yang tersebar di seluruh Indonesia dan belum banyak dimanfaatkan. Bahan aktif rumput kebar berupa asam amino, saponin, steroid, dan flavonoid yang bermanfaat untuk meningkatkan dan memperbaiki kinerja reproduksi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober sampai November 2023 yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan yaitu penambahan 0% Biophytum sp., 5% Biophytum sp., 10% Biophytum sp., dan 20% Biophytum sp.. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian simplisia Biophytum sp. tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah reproduksi O. woworae pada perlakuan A, B, C, dan D namun pada perlakuan diberikan Biophytum sp. 20% (perlakuan D) terdapat kecenderungan peningkatan kinerja reproduksi dibandingkan tanpa pemberian Biophytum sp..
