Abstract

As time goes by, technological developments will certainly develop more rapidly. One of these technological developments is the development of lathes. Initially this lathe was controlled conventionally but nowadays it can be controlled with a numerical program, namely CNC. One of the obstacles in this machining process is the use of insert tools that wear out easily and are not followed by an increase in the quantity and quality of couplings. This can happen because there is no monitoring of coolant concentration during the machining process. So this research was conducted to analyze the effect of coolant concentration variation on vibration, surface roughness, and insert tool lifetime and get the most efficient product production cost. This research was conducted using the experimental method and in determining the sample using the Taguchi method. This research was conducted by installing the insert tool, adjusting the coolant concentration, measuring the vibration on the machine, cleaning the coupling, measuring the surface roughness of the coupling, and counting the number of couplings formed. The test results that have been carried out prove that variations in coolant concentration have an effect on vibration, surface roughness, and insert tool lifetime. as well as the most efficient production costs are at 5% concentration because it has the most minimal or cheap production costs and acceptable product quality.

Additional Information: Seiring dengan berjalannya waktu, perkembangan teknologi pasti akan berkembang semakin pesat. Salah satu perkembangan teknologi tersebut adalah perkembangan pada mesin bubut. Awal mula mesin bubut ini dikendalikan secara konvensional akan tetapi saat ini sudah dapat dikendalikan dengan program numerik yakni CNC. Salah satu kendala dalam proses pemesinan ini adalah pemakaian insert tool yang mudah aus dan tidak diikuti dengan meningkatnya kuantitas dan kualitas coupling. Hal tersebut bisa terjadi karena tidak adanya pemantauan konsentrasi coolant ketika proses pemesinannya. Sehingga penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis pengaruh variasi konsentrasi coolant terhadap getaran, kekasaran permukaan, dan lifetime insert tool serta mendapatkan cost produksi produk yang paling efisien. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen dan dalam penentuan samplenya menggunakan metode taguchi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan memasang insert tool, mengatur konsentrasi coolant, mengukur getaran pada mesin, membersihkan coupling, mengukur kekasaran permukaan pada coupling, dan menghitung banyaknya coupling yang terbentuk. Hasil pengujian yang telah dilakukan membuktikan bahwa variasi konsentrasi coolant berpengaruh pada getaran, kekasaran permukaan, dan lifetime insert tool. serta cost produksi yang paling efisien terdapat pada konsentrasi 5 % karena memiliki cost produksi yang paling minimal atau murah dan kualitas produk yang masih dapat diterima
