Abstract

This research is about the influence of using personal photograph towards students’ writing on recount text. The objective of this research was to find out whether there is any significant influence of using personal photograph toward students’ writing on recount text. It was conducted in SMP Negeri 1 Malingping. They are two classes used in this research, VIII-B as experimental class and VIIIA as control class. Both classes consist of 26 students; it was chosen based on quota sampling. Quota sampling used when the researcher was unable to take the probability sample but still able to select subjects on the basis of characteristic of the population. The researcher uses quantitative approach with quasi-experimental design as a method of the research. By using this method, the researcher provided the pre-test and post-test which are given to the experimental class and control class. Based on the result of calculation of this research, it revealed that there was a significant influence of using personal photograph toward students’ writing on recount text. It was indicated by the result of means’ score of students’ post-test in experimental class (68.34) was higher than in control (60.26). On other hand, ttest was used to know the influence of personal photograph toward students’ writing skill of recount text. From the result of t-test calculation in post-test, it was obtained that tcount was higher than ttable (2.250 ≥ 2.008). It was identified that experimental and control group has significant differences in writing ability after the treatment. In conclusion, personal photograph was influenced toward students’ writing on recount text.
