Abstract
This research aims at finding out the influence of using discussion technique toward students’ reading comprehension in narrative text the eighth grade students of SMPN Satu Atap Garung. The research methodology was the Quasi Experimental Design by using Nonequivalent control group design. The data was collected through pre-test and pos-test that analyzed by using t-test formula. The calculation result of t-test showed that Tcount ≥ Ttable, 1.780 ≥ 1.672, it can be said that Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, it means that there was a significant influence of using discussion technique toward students’ reading comprehension in narrative text. Moreover, based on the calculation of the effect size, it showed that the significant influenced by using discussion technique toward students’ reading comprehension was medium because the result of value is 0.228. In conclusion, using discussion technique has the medium effect for students’ reading comprehension in narrative text.
