Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the influence of using Clustering Technique toward students’ descriptive text writing. The researcher used true-experimental design in this research. The population of the research was in the seventh grade students of SMPN 4 Kota Serang in the academic year of 2016/2017. There were VII-B as the experimental class and VII-E as the control class. Each class consisted of 37 students. The researcher used cluster random sampling by using the lottery system to determine which classes that would become in the experimental class and control class. The researcher used pre-test and post-test to collect the data. The highest scores of the pre-test in the experimental and control classes were 77 and 80 and the lowest scores classes were 33 and 30. Meanwhile in the post-test, the highest scores of the post-test in the experimental and control classes were 90 and 80 and the lowest scores were 50 and 50. The calculation of Tcount and Ttable was 8,44 > 1,99 which meant that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, the researcher drew a conclusion that there was an influence of using Clustering Technique in the seventh graade of SMP 4 Kota Serang.
