Abstract

The objective of this research to know whether there is any influence of chain pictures in teaching writing narrative paragraph at the eight students of SMPN 14 Kota Serang. The population of this research is eight students of SMPN 14 Kota Serang which consists of 300 students. The sample of this research is students, which are taken from two classes (VIII H as a control group and VIII G as experimental group). The methodology of this research is quantitative research by true experimental research design. After conducting the research and analyzing the data finding, the mean score of pre test an post test at the experimental group is 56 and 76,6. The mean score of pre test and post test at the control group are 48,6 and 51,9. The result indicated that there is an improvement of the score. Furthermore, the result of t-test (tobservation) is 2,19. Comparing the value of tobservation with the degree of significance 5% (2,00), 2,19 > 2,00. Therefore, it can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected. It means that there is significant influence in using chain pictures as media in teaching writing narrative paragraph at the eight students of SMPN 14 Kota Serang. The influence of chain pictures toward students’ achievement in writing narrative paragraph at the eight students of SMPN 14 Kota Serang was 52%.
