Abstract

examination for the first semester of the tenth grade students at SMK PGRI 1 Kota Serang, how the students’ answer sheets of English final examination, and the students’ problems in doing English final examination. This research used qualitative research method and content analysis as research design. The source of this research was tenth grade students of SMK PGRI 1 Kota Serang. To obtain the data, the researcher used documentation, questionnaire, and interview as the instruments. The test items were analyzed by using the technique from Safari (2005). The result showed that the percentage of the test items of English final examination was 89%. It meant that the test items were good. Meanwhile, the result of X TKJ 1 students’ answer sheets showed that the students were bad in answering the test items. This related to the students’ problems in doing English final examination. The biggest problems came from the students. Essentially, the students’ interests in English subject were not good. Based on the findings, English teacher are expected to give some assignments to the students by involving essay questions to elaborate the students’ ideas. This will make the students easier in encountering English tests, especially English final test.
