Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of finding out the relationship between latent variables in existing theories that are proven to have a positive influence and to find out how significant the influence between these variables is. This research is a type of quantitative research with a survey method and uses a structural equation model (Structural Equation Model) related to the relationship between self-determination, mathematical anxiety, and mathematics learning achievement of junior high school students in Cilegon City. The location of this research was carried out in public and private junior high schools in Cilegon City. The population in this study is public and private junior high school students in Cilegon City, while the sample was selected based on accreditation using the slovin formula as many as 390 students from public or private junior high schools accredited A, B, and C. The instruments used in this study are self-determination questionnaires and mathematical anxiety, as well as a list of daily assessment scores for the 2023-2024 school year. The collected data was then analyzed using a structural equation model (SEM) assisted by the Lisrel 8.8 application. The results obtained in this study show that: 1) there is a positive and significant direct influence of self-determination on the mathematics learning achievement of junior high school students in the city of Cilegon, (2) there is a direct negative and significant influence of mathematics anxiety on the mathematics learning achievement of junior high school students in the city of Cilegon, (3) there is a direct negative and significant influence of self-determination on the mathematics anxiety of junior high school students in the city of Cilegon, (4) mathematics anxiety indirectly mediates the influence of self-determination on the mathematics learning achievement of junior high school students in the city of Cilegon. The results of this study saw the findings that the indirect influence of self-determination on mathematics learning achievement with mathematics anxiety as a mediator, was smaller than the direct influence of self-determination on the mathematics learning achievement of junior high school students in Cilegon City.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterkaitan antar variabel laten pada teori-teori yang sudah ada terbukti memiliki pengaruh positif dan mengetahui berapa besar signifikansi pengaruh antar variabel tersebut terjadi. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode survei dan menggunakan model persamaan struktural (Structural Equation Model) terkait hubungan self-determination, kecemasan matematika, dan hasil belajar matematika siswa SMP di Kota Cilegon. Lokasi penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP negeri dan swasta yang ada di Kota Cilegon. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP negeri dan swasta di Kota Cilegon, sedangkan sampel dipilih berdasarkan akreditasi menggunakan rumus slovin sebanyak 390 siswa dari sekolah SMP negeri ataupun swasta yang terakreditasi A, B, dan C. Dengan instrumen yang di gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah angket self-determination dan kecemasan matematika, serta daftar nilai penilaian harian tahun ajaran 2023-2024. Data yang sudah terkumpul kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan structuran equation model (SEM) berbantuan aplikasi Lisrel 8.8. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) terdapat pengaruh langsung yang positif dan signifikan self-determination terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa SMP di kota Cilegon, (2) terdapat pengaruh langsung yang negatif dan signifikan kecemasan matematika terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa SMP di kota Cilegon, (3) terdapat pengaruh langsung yang negatif dan signifikan self-determination terhadap kecemasan matematika siswa SMP di kota Cilegon, (4) kecemasan matematika memediasi secara tidak langsung pengaruh self-determination terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa SMP di kota Cilegon. Hasil penelitian ini melihat temuan bahwa pengaruh tidak langsung self-determination terhadap hasil belajar matematika dengan kecemasan matematikasebagai mediator, lebih kecil daripada pengaruh langsung self-determination terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa SMP di Kota Cilegon.
