Abstract
The high demand of blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) increases the fishing effort, one of which uses trap. Trap is a passive fishing gear that requires bait for attract the target catch. The good baits have to stimulate the sense of smell and taste, so that the target catch can fit into the trap. This study aims to analyze the preference and behavior of crab to artificial bait on a laboratory scale using collapsible trap. The research was conducted on in October-December 2023 in Capture Fisheries Technology and Management laboratory of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The formulation of artificial bait consists of 15 grams of carrageenan combined with attractants from squid extract with three different treatments including 400 ml, 500 ml, and 600 ml respectively. Observations was conducted through direct observation and recorded using infrared cameras. Descriptive analysis was used to determine the most appropriate bait for crab fishing using trap. The results showed crab responds differently to the artificial bait. The most effective bait is using 400ml of squid extract. The 400 ml squid extract artificial bait formulation is the best artificial bait formulation compared to the 500 ml and 600 ml formulations. The use of artificial bait with 400 ml squid extract resulted in the fastest approach time with an average of 12.13 minutes, the highest number of approaching crabs was 12, and the highest frequency of approaching was 8-32 times. The number of crabs that enter the bubu with 400 ml artificial bait is more than other bait formulations.

Additional Information: | Tingginya permintaan kepiting renang biru (Portunus pelagicus) meningkatkan usaha penangkapan ikan, salah satunya menggunakan bubu lipat. Bubu lipat adalah alat tangkap pasif yang membutuhkan umpan untuk menarik tangkapan target. Umpan yang baik harus merangsang indera penciuman dan perasa, sehingga tangkapan target dapat masuk ke dalam bubu lipat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis respon dan tingkah laku kepiting terhadap umpan buatan dalam skala laboratorium dengan menggunakan bubu lipat. Penelitian dilakukan pada Oktober-Desember 2023 di laboratorium Teknologi dan Manajemen Perikanan Tangkap Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Formulasi umpan buatan terdiri dari 15 gram karagenan yang dikombinasikan dengan atraktan dari ekstrak cumi-cumi dengan tiga perlakuan berbeda masing-masing antara lain 400 ml, 500 ml, dan 600 ml. Pengamatan dilakukan melalui pengamatan langsung dan direkam menggunakan kamera inframerah. Analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk menentukan umpan yang paling tepat untuk penangkapan kepiting dengan menggunakan perangkap. Formulasi umpan buatan ekstrak cumi-cumi 400 ml merupakan formulasi umpan buatan terbaik dibandingkan dengan formulasi lainya. Penggunaan umpan buatan ekstrak cumi-cumi 400 ml menghasilkan waktu rajungan mendekat tercepat dengan rata-rata sebesar 12,13 menit; jumlah rajungan mendekat terbanyak sebesar 12 ekor, serta frekuensi mendekat tertinggi antara 8-32 kali. lebih banyak dibandingkan formulasi umpan lainnya. | |||||||||
