Abstract

Writing skills, as one of the language skills, are often considered difficult compared to other language skills. One of them wrote a letter. This is due to internal and external factors, either from the students themselves or other factors. The aim of this research is to describe the influence of the cooperative integrated reading and composition model and the master copying model on the job application letter writing skills of class XII students at SMK Negeri 5 Serang City. This research uses an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The design in this research is a pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique is cluster random sampling. The research data collection technique is the results of writing job application letters in the form of pretest and posttest in the experimental and control classes with research instruments, namely bowing the contents of the letter, completeness of the contents of the letter, appropriateness of the letter format, word precision, sentence precision, spelling and writing system. The research results show that there is an influence of the cooperative integrated reading and composition model with a pretest score in the experimental class of 65.65 and a posttest of 79.63, and there is an influence of the copy the master model with a pretest score of 61.86 and posttest 73.71. There is a difference in the posttest results with a difference of 5.92 points. It was concluded that the cooperative integrated reading and composition model was superior to the copy the master model for improving students' job application letter writing skills.

Additional Information: Keterampilan menulis sebagai salah satu keterampilan berbahasa, sering kali dianggap sulit dibandingkan keterampilan berbahasa yang lain. Salah satunya menulis surat. Ini diakibatkan adanya faktor internal dan eksternal, baik dari siswa itu sendiri atau faktor lainnya. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh model cooperative integrated reading and composition dan model copy the master terhadap keterampilan menulis surat lamaran pekerjaan siswa kelas XII di SMK Negeri 5 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakkan metode eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Desain dalam penelitian ini yakni pretest-posttest control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel, yaitu cluster random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian, yaitu hasil menulis surat lamaran pekerjaan berupa pretest dan posttest pada kelas eksperimen dan kontrol dengan instrumen penelitian yaitu ketepatan isi surat, kelengkapan isi surat, kepantasan format surat, ketepatan kata, ketepatan kalimat, ejaan dan tata tulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model cooperative integrated reading and composition dengan nilai pretest pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 65,65 dan posttest 79,63, dan terdapat pengaruh model copy the master dengan nilai pretest sebesar 61,86 dan posttest 73,71. Terdapat perbedaan hasil posttest dengan selisih 5,92 poin. Disimpulkan bahwa model cooperative integrated reading and composition lebih unggul dibandingkan model copy the master untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis surat lamaran pekerjaan siswa.
