Abstract

Computational thinking ability is one of the important thinking skills for students, because with computational thinking students are able to solve problems and find solutions to these problems by using technology. This research aims to develop e-modules based on project-based learning assisted by Block-based coding to improve students' computational thinking skills. This research was conducted at Aditya Karya Middle School with research subjects for limited trials of 30 students, field trials of 112 students and operational trials of 60 students. The design in this development research uses a 4D model (Four-D Models) which is an abbreviation of the 4 stages carried out, namely define, design, development and disseminate. Validation tests by material experts and media experts have shown that the e-module is in the good category and is worthy of being tested with revisions. After going through the product revision stage, a trial was carried out and the results were obtained that the e-module was suitable for use and effective in improving students' computational thinking skills. This is supported by the results of students' responses to the e-module in the limited trial which obtained an average score of 4.0 in the very practical category and in the field trial an average score of 3.7 was in the practical category. The Gain Score result of the student's computational thinking ability test was 57 and was included in the effective category.

Additional Information: Kemampuan berpikir komputasi adalah salah satu kemampuan berpikir yang penting bagi siswa, karena dengan berpikir komputasi siswa mampu memecahkan masalah serta menemukan solusi atas permasalahan tersebut dengan pemanfaatan teknologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pengembangan e-modul berbasis project-based learning berbantuan Block-based coding untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir komputasi siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Aditya Karya dengan subjek penelitian untuk uji coba terbatas 30 siswa, uji coba lapangan 112 siswa dan uji coba operasional 60 siswa. Rancangan pada penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan model model 4D (Four-D Models) yang merupakan singkatan dari 4 tahapan yang dilakukan yaitu define, design, development dan disseminate. Uji validasi ahli materi dan ahli media telah menunjukan bahwa e-modul masuk kategori baik dan layak diujicobakan dengan revisi. Setelah melalui tahap revisi produk maka dilakukan uji coba dan didapatkan hasil bahwa e-modul layak untuk digunakan dan efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir komputasi siswa. hal ini didukung dengan hasil respon siswa terhadap e-modul pada uji coba terbatas diperoleh nilai rata-rata 4,0 masuk kategori sangat praktis dan uji coba lapangan nilai rata-rata 3,7 masuk kategori praktis. Hasil Gain Score tes kemampuan berpikir komputasi siswa sebesar 57 dan masuk dalam kategori efektif.
