Abstract
This research was conducted between January and April 2024 at the Forest Plant Seed Technology Development Center and the Seed Conservation Laboratory of Bogor Botanical Gardens, managed by BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency). The study focused on various parameters including fruit length, fruit color, seed dimensions (length and diameter), seed weight, water content, electrical conductivity, and tetrazolium testing. The tetrazolium test involved scarification treatment using vermiculite, sand, and soil as a planting medium. Results indicated that the average fruit length was 20 cm with yellow flesh color. The seeds of M. ingens had a length of 7.30 mm, diameter of 8.8 mm, and weighed 0.28 grams. The seed's moisture content was 14.99% and its electrical conductivity was 77.95 µS/cm.g. The most effective tetrazolium test method for embryo staining was identified as the S4M3 treatment.

Additional Information: | Morfologi tanaman pisang (M. ingens) terdapat beberapa karakter buah dan biji, mulai dari panjang, lebar, warna dan berat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karateristik buah dan biji serta pengujian tetrazolium pada biji pisang endemik papua (M. ingens N.W.Simmonds). Penelitian ini telah dilakukan pada bulan Januari sampai April tahun 2024 di Balai Pengembangan Teknologi Perbenihan Tanaman Hutan dan Laboratorium Konservasi Benih Kebun Raya Bogor-BRIN (Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional). Parameter pada penelitian ini yaitu panjang buah, warna buah, panjang biji, diameter biji, berat biji, kadar air, daya hantar listrik, pengujian tetrazolium. Pengujian tetrazolium terdiri dari kombinasi perlakuan skarifikasi dengan media tanam vermikulit, pasir dan tanah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa morfologi buah memiliki panjang rata-rata 20 cm dengan buah berwarna kuning. Morfologi biji M. ingens memiliki panjang biji 7,30 mm, diameter biji 8,8 mm, berat biji 0,28 gram. Kadar air biji 14,99% dan daya hantar listrik 77,95 µS/cm.g. Metode uji tetrazolium yang terbaik pada pewarnaan embrio adalah pada perlakuan S4M3. | ||||||||||||
