Abstract

Wounds are damage to units/parts of tissue, specifically where parts of the tissue are damaged or absent. Turbinaria ornata is seaweed that contains alginate and neophytadiene compounds which have been proven to be able to heal wounds. Betel leaves contain biologically active molecules such as hydroxycavicol (anti-inflammatory) which can support the wound healing process. The aim of this research is to prove the effectiveness and obtain the best concentration of T. ornata seaweed extract and betel leaves in the wound healing process. The research was carried out from December to February 2024. Experimental animal care and treatment took place at the Pondok Parumasan Indah Housing Complex, Taktakan. The place for testing the analysis is the Aquatic Products Technology Laboratory (THP), Fisheries Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. This research took the form of a laboratory experiment which was tested on mice consisting of 4 treatment groups, namely negative control; T. ornata 5% and betel leaf juice 10%; T. ornata 7.5% and betel leaf juice 7.5%; T. ornata 10% and betel leaf juice 5%. The hydrogel formulation of wound healing ointment from T. ornata extract and betel leaf water was proven to be effective in healing cut wounds in mice and there were significant differences between each treatment. A concentration of 7.5% T. ornata extract and 7.5% betel leaf water had the best formulation for the fastest wound closure process with a wound closure percentage of 79% for 14 days.

Additional Information: Luka adalah rusaknya unit/bagian jaringan, dengan secara khusus terdapat bagian jaringan tersebut rusak atau tidak ada. T. ornata merupakan rumput laut yang mengandung senyawa alginat dan neophytadiene yang terbukti mampu menyembuhkan luka. Daun sirih mempunyai kandungan molekul aktif biologis seperti hidroksikavicol (anti inflamasi) yang dapat mendukung proses penyembuhan luka. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah membuktikan efektivitas dan mendapatkan konsentrasi terbaik dari ekstrak rumput laut T. ornata dan daun sirih dalam proses penyembuhan luka. Penelitian ini berbentuk eksperimental laboratorium yang diujikan pada hewan mencit yang terdiri dari 4 kelompok perlakuan yaitu kontrol negatif; T. ornata 5% dan air perasan daun sirih 10%; T. ornata 7,5% dan air perasan daun sirih 7,5%; T. ornata 10% dan air perasan daun sirih 5%. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa formulasi hidrogel salep penyembuh luka ekstrak T. ornata dan air perasan daun sirih terbukti memiliki efektivitas yang dapat menyembuhkan luka sayat pada hewan mencit dan terdapat perbedaan nyata pada setiap perlakuan. Konsentrasi 7,5% ekstrak T. ornata dan 7,5% air perasan daun sirih memiliki formulasi terbaik dari proses penutupan luka paling cepat dengan persentase penutupan luka sebesar 79% selama 14 hari masa perawatan luka. Kelompok perlakuan yang memiliki proses penutupan luka paling lama terdapat pada kontrol negatif yaitu dengan konsentrasi 0% ekstrak T. ornata dan 0% air perasan daun sirih. Hasil kemampuan penutupan luka dari kelompok perlakuan PR0 yaitu memiliki persentase sebesar 53% dalam proses penutupan luka paling lama selama 14 hari.
