Abstract

The objective of this research was to ascertain the impact of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) chitosan on fruit characteristics in the hydroponic cultivation of the Minion melon variety. The experimental research was conducted at PT. Fitotech Agri Lestari, Dramaga Subdistrict, Bogor Regency, West Java, for a period of three months, from November 2023 to January 2024. The study employed a non-factorial randomized block design (RBD) with five treatment levels: control (C0), 3.5 ml/L (C1), 7 ml/L (C2), 10.5 ml/L (C3), and 14 ml/L (C4). Each treatment was replicated six times, resulting in 30 experimental units. The observations on these qualitative parameters revealed no significant changes in the observed parameters (fruit skin color, flesh color, and fruit shape) between treatments (C0 to C4). From the analysis of variance (ANOVA), LOF Chitosan treatment on fruit weight parameters showed a significantly different effect, while on the parameters of fruit width, fruit length, fruit flesh thickness and fruit brix showed a very significantly different effect. The application of chitosan LOF on the Minion melon variety in hydroponic cultivation demonstrated a significant increase in several quantitative parameters, including fruit weight, fruit width, fruit length, flesh thickness, and fruit Brix value. The application of chitosan LOF at a dose of 10.5 ml/L exhibited the most pronounced effect on the characteristics and yield components of the melon fruit, particularly on fruit length, flesh thickness, and fruit Brix value.

Additional Information:	Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian pupuk organik cair (POC) kitosan terhadap karakteristik buah pada budidaya hidroponik melon varietas Minion. Penelitian eksperimental dilakukan di PT. Fitotech Agri Lestari, Kecamatan Dramaga, Kabupaten Bogor, Jawa Barat, selama tiga bulan, November 2023 sampai Januari 2024. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) non faktorial dengan lima taraf perlakuan: kontrol (C0), 3,5 ml/L (C1), 7 ml/L (C2), 10,5 ml/L (C3), dan 14 ml/L (C4). Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak enam kali sehingga diperoleh 30 satuan percobaan. Pengamatan terhadap parameter kualitatif tersebut menunjukkan tidak adanya perubahan nyata pada parameter pengamatan (warna kulit buah, warna daging, dan bentuk buah) antar perlakuan (C0 hingga C4). Dari hasil analisis ragam (ANOVA), perlakuan POC Kitosan pada parameter berat buah menunjukkan pengaruh yang berbeda nyata, sedangkan pada parameter lebar buah, panjang buah, ketebalan daging buah dan brix buah menunjukkan pengaruh yang berbeda sangat nyata. Penerapan kitosan POC pada varietas melon Minion pada budidaya hidroponik menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada beberapa parameter kuantitatif antara lain bobot buah, lebar buah, panjang buah, ketebalan daging, dan nilai Brix buah. Aplikasi kitosan POC dengan dosis 10,5 ml/L memberikan pengaruh paling nyata terhadap karakteristik dan komponen hasil buah melon, khususnya pada panjang buah, ketebalan daging buah, dan nilai Brix buah.
