Abstract

This research was aimed to know the effect of the types of scarification and the concentration levels of gibberellin (GA3) on the viability of oil palm seeds (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) of the Tenera variety. This research was conducted at the Agroecology Greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University from April until May 2022. This research used a Randomized Completely Design (RCD) and arranged in factorial, consisted of two factors. The first factor was types of scarification which consists of three levels, S0: Without scarification (control), S1: Sanded scarification, and S2: Scarification soaked in hot water with 80°C starter temperature for 3×24 hours. Second factor was concentration levels of gibberellin (GA3) which consists of three levels, G1: GA3 50 ppm, G2: GA3 100 ppm, dan G3: GA3 150 ppm. There were 9 combinations of treatments and were repeated 3 times. The results showed that the treatment without scarification (S0) gave the best results on parameters of germination rate (0.66%/day), maximum growth potential (30.00%), and ungrow sprouts (67.78%). 100 ppm (G2) of gibberellin (GA3) concentration provided better results regarding parameters of: germination time (40 days), germination (20%), germination rate (0.48%/day), maximum growth potwntial (20%), and abnormal sprouts (0.71%). There was no interaction between the various types of scarification treatments and concentration levels of gibberellin (GA3) on all observed parameters.

Additional Information: Kelapa sawit merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman perkebunan utama yang menjadi unggulan dibanding sektor perkebunan lain seperti tebu, teh, dan lainnya. Benih kelapa sawit mengalami dormansi fisik dalam proses perkecambahannya. Salah satu upaya untuk mematahkan dormansi tersebut yakni dengan skarifikasi baik secara mekanik atau kimia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis skarifikasi dan tingkat konsentrasi Giberelin (GA3) terhadap viabilitas benih kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) varietas Tenera. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Greenhouse Agroekologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa selama bulan April sampai Mei 2022. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) Faktorial dengan dua faktor. Faktor pertama yaitu jenis skarifikasi yang terdiri dari tiga taraf yaitu S0: Tanpa skarifikasi (kontrol), S1: Skarifikasi diamplas, dan S2: Skarifikasi direndam air panas suhu awal 80°C 3×24 jam. Faktor kedua yaitu konsentrasi giberelin (GA3) yang terdiri dari tiga taraf yaitu G1: GA3 50 ppm, G2: GA3 100 ppm, dan G3: GA3 150 ppm. Perlakuan terdapat 9 kombinasi dan diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan tanpa skarifikasi (S0) memberikan hasil terbaik pada parameter kecepatan tumbuh (0,66%/hari), potensi tumbuh maksimum (30,00%), dan kecambah tidak tumbuh (67,78%). Konsentrasi giberelin (GA3) 100 ppm (G2) memberikan hasil cenderung lebih baik terhadap parameter: waktu berkecambah (40 hari), daya berkecambah (20%), kecepatan tumbuh (0,48%/hari), potensi tumbuh maksimum (20%), dan kecambah abnormal (0,71%). Tidak terdapat interaksi antara perlakuan berbagai jenis skarifikasi dan tingkat konsentrasi giberelin (GA3) terhadap semua parameter yang diamati.
