Abstract

Climate change, which is characterized by an increase in the earth's average temperature and CO2 emissions, has become an important issue in the world, so it requires mitigation efforts through planting and reforesting land such as in the Biodiversity Park in Kadubeureum Village. This mitigation effort is useful for reducing the negative impacts of climate change and increasing carbon stocks through vegetation. This research aims to determine estimates of surface carbon reserves (Above Ground Biomass) in Biodiversity Park, Kadubeureum Village, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical tbk. using Google Earth Engine (GEE), as well as analysis of research results which can be used as learning content based on Science Environment, Technology and Society (SETS). The method used to conduct this research was the remote sensing method. This research was carried out in March 2023-June 2024 at Biodiversity park, Kadubeureum Village, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical tbk. The results of the Second Modified Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (MSAVI2) vegetation index value obtained an average of 0.446 and the value of Fractional Vegetation Cover (FVC) was 0.54. The amount of carbon reserves based on satellite imagery was obtained at 420,336 tonC/ha with an average of 70,056 tonC/ha. Based on the results of the analysis, carbon stock mapping can be implemented into SETS-based learning so that students can understand the relationship between science, technology, environment and society in a real context, as well as develop awareness and skills to contribute to climate change mitigation.

Additional Information: Perubahan iklim yang ditandai adanya peningkatan suhu rata-rata bumi dan emisi CO2 telah menjadi isu penting di dunia, sehingga membutuhkan upaya mitigasi melalui penanaman dan peghijauan lahan seperti di Taman Kehati Desa Kadubeureum. Upaya mitigasi ini berguna untuk mengurangi dampak negatif perubahan iklim dan meningkatkan cadangan karbon melaui vegetasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui estimasi cadangan karbon permukaan (Above Ground Biomass) di Taman Kehati Desa Kadubeureum PT Chandra Asri menggunakan Google Earth Engine (GEE), serta analisis hasil penelitian yang dapat dijadikan sebagai konten pembelajaran berbasis Science Environment, Technology and Society (SETS). Metode yang digunakan untuk melakukan penelitian ini adalah metode penginderaan jauh (remote sensing). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret 2023-Juni 2024 di Taman Kehati Desa Kadubeureum PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical tbk. Hasil nilai indeks vegetasi Second Modified Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (MSAVI2) diperoleh rata-rata 0,446 dan nilai Fractional Vegetation Cover (FVC) sebesar 0,54. Jumlah cadangan karbon berdasarkan citra satelit diperoleh sebesar 420,336 tonC/ha dengan rata rata sebesar 70,056 tonC/ha. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, pemetaan cadangan karbon dapat diimplementasikan ke dalam pembelajaran berbasis SETS agar siswa dapat memahami hubungan sains, teknologi, lingkungan, dan masyarakat dalam konteks nyata, serta mengembangkan kesadaran dan keterampilan untuk berkontribusi dalam mitigasi perubahan iklim.
