Abstract
This research designed to find out the effect of talking stick model on cognitive and learn motivation of student SMPN 1 Kalanganyar grade VIII to concept of human respiratory system. This research was a quasi experimental research using ‘randomize control group only’ design. Talking stick model as independent variable, cognitive ability and student’s learning motivation as dependent variable. The population in this study is all students of class VIII SMPN 1 Kalanganyar lesson year 2016/2017. The sample of this study consist of two classes, namely class VIII A as the experimental class and class VIII C as the control class. The sampling technique is done by random sampling. Techniques of data collections is using posttest to measure students cognitive ability, motivation questionnaire to measure students learning motivation, and observation sheet for learning implementation. The results showed the average value of students cognitive abilities in the experimental class is 66,00 with good category. The average value of student learning motivation in the experimental class is 85,42 with very good category. Based on the result of t test on students cognitive ability, the significance 0,008 <0,05 means H0 is rejected. And the result of t test on students learning motivation is obtained significance value 0,00 <0,05 its mean H0 is reject, and the result of t test on students learning motivation is obtained significance value 0,00 <0,05 its mean H0 is rejected. Based on the research results can be concluded that there is influence of talking stick model to cognitive ability and students learning motivation on concept of human respiration system at SMPN 1 Kalanganyar grade of VIII.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Talking Stick terhadap kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa SMPN 1 Kalanganyar kelas VIII pada konsep Sistem Pernapasan Manusia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen yang menggunakan desain randomized control group only. Model Talking Stick sebagai variabel bebas, kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa sebagai variabel terikat. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Kalanganyar tahun pelajaran 2016/2017. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas VIII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII C sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan posttest untuk mengukur kemampuan kognitif siswa, angket motivasi belajar untuk mengukur motivasi belajar siswa, dan lembar observasi untuk keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata kemampuan kognitif siswa pada kelas eksperimen yaitu 66,00 dengan kategori baik. Nilai rata-rata motivasi belajar siswa pada kelas eksperimen yaitu 85,42 dengan kategori sangat baik. Berdasarkan hasil uji t pada kemampuan kognitif siswa diperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,008<0,05 yang berarti H0 ditolak. Hasil uji t pada motivasi belajar siswa diperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,00<0,05 yang berarti H0 ditolak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model Talking Stick terhadap kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa pada konsep sistem pernapasan manusia di SMPN 1 Kalanganyar kelas VIII. | |||||||||
