Abstract

PT Kayu Permata is a wooden door manufacturer established since 1974, committed to maintaining and enhancing product quality. However, the company continues to receive customer claims, particularly regarding surface defects originating from the Painting Department. Based on production data, the number of defects in the Painting Department from January to April 2024 amounted to 5,411. The high volume of orders and door types produced has led to suboptimal quality control practices, resulting in wastage. This research aims to identify significant wastes in the painting process using the Lean Six Sigma approach, determine critical waste factors using the RCFA method, and propose improvements using the 5 Whys method. The study identified major wastes in the internal slim painting process of folding doors, including excess processing, unnecessary motions, defects, waiting times, and transportation inefficiencies. The Current State Value Stream Mapping (VSM) revealed a lead time of 3,576.5 minutes. Critical waste factors identified include human factors, raw materials, methods, machines, and environmental conditions. Proposed improvements involve employee training, SOP enhancement, QC supervision, workplace environment improvements, implementation of the 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke) culture, and layout optimization. The Future State VSM predicts a reduced lead time of 1,901 minutes. Keywords: Waste, Lean Six Sigma, RCFA, VSM

Additional Information: PT Kayu Permata merupakan produsen pintu kayu yang berdiri sejak tahun 1974 dan telah berkomitmen menjaga dan meningkatkan kualitas produknya. Namun, perusahaan masih menerima klaim dari pelanggan, khususnya klaim surface defect yang berasal dari Departemen Painting. Berdasarkan data produksi, defect yang terjadi di Departemen Painting pada Bulan Januari – April 2024 berjumlah 5.411 defect. Banyaknya pesanan dan tipe pintu yang diproduksi mengakibatkan pengendalian kualitas kurang maksimal sehingga mengakibatkan pemborosan (waste). Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengidentifikasi waste yang berpengaruh pada proses painting dengan pendekatan Lean Six Sigma, menentukan faktor-faktor penyebab critical waste dengan metode RCFA, dan memberikan usulan perbaikan dengan metode 5whys. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, waste yang berpengruh pada proses painting pintu folding door internal slim diantaranya waste excess processing, motions, defect, waiting dan transportation serta diperoleh hasil VSM Current State dengan lead time sebesar 3.576,5 menit. Adapun faktor yang menjadi penyebab critical waste diantaranya yaitu faktor manusia, bahan baku, metode, mesin, dan lingkungan. Usulan perbaikan yang diberikan berkaitan dengan pelatihan karyawan, perbaikan IPK, pengawasan QC, perbaikan lingkungan kerja dan penerapan budaya 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke), serta rekomendasi layout. VSM Future State menunjukan lead time menurun menjadi 1.901 menit. Kata Kunci: Waste, Lean Six Sigma, RCFA, VSM
