Abstract
This study aimed to determine effect of Snowball Throwing models to students’ cognitive abilities on the sub concept of environment pollution. The method used was quasi experimental with randomized control group pretest-posttest design. This research was conducted at SMP YPKS class VII at second semester of academic year 2016/2017. The sampling technique used in this study is Simple Random Sampling. The data were collected using objective test and observation sheet. The results showed the average score of cognitive ability of the students in the control class is 69.1 with abble category and the experiment class is 79.2 with good category. The result of hypothesis test analysis using t test at significance level α = 0.05 obtained sig. 0.00 < 0.05 which means H0 is rejected. It can be concluded that there is the effect of the use of Snowball Throwing learning model to students’ cognitive abilities on the sub concept of environment pollution.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penggunaan model pembelajaran Snowball Throwing (ST) terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa pada subkonsep pencemaran lingkungan. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain randomized control group pretest-posttest. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP YPKS Cilegon kelas VII semester II tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini Simple Random Sampling. Pengambilan data penelitian ini menggunakan tes objektif dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata kemampuan kognitif siswa pada kelas kontrol yaitu 69,1 dengan kategori cukup dan kelas eksperimen yaitu 79,2 dengan kategori baik. Hasil uji hipotesis diperoleh sig. 0,00 < 0,05 yang berarti H0 ditolak, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran Snowball Throwing terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa pada subkonsep pencemaran lingkungan. | |||||||||
