Abstract

The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang in the academic year 2016-2017, aims to determine the difference of influence the model Preview Question Read Summarize Test (PQRST) and model Survey Question Read Recite Review (SQ3R) on reading comprehension ability text short stories student class XI. The type of this research is quasi experimental research with nonequivalent control group design. The variables in this research are model Preview Question Read Summarize Test (PQRST) and model Survey Question Read Recite Review (SQ3R) as independent variable and reading comprehension ability of short story text as dependent variable. The design of nonequivalent control group design uses two groups, that is experimental group or class XI IPA 4 applying model Preview Question Read Summarize Test (PQRST) and control group or class XI IPA 5 applying model Survey Question Read Recite Review (SQ3R). Data analysis technique to test the hypothesis using t-test which is preceded by normality test, homogeneity test, and linearity test. The result of the research shows that there is a significant difference between the use of model Preview Question Read Summarize Test (PQRST) and model Survey Question Read Recite Review (SQ3R) on ability to read comprehension of text short story in class XI SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang. It can be proved from the result of two-party t-test with real level (α) = 0,05 obtained thitung (3,190)> ttabel (2,001). The value of thitung > ttabel indicates that the reading comprehension ability of short stories of the two groups differed significantly. Based on the thitung, it can be concluded that the model Preview Question Read Summarize Test (PQRST) is better or more effective than the model Survey Question Read Recite Review (SQ3R).

Additional Information: 2016-2017, bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh penggunaan model Preview Question Read Summarize Test (PQRST) dan model Survey Question Read Recite Review (SQ3R) terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks cerpen siswa kelas XI. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian quasi experimental dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Variabel dalam penelitian ini adalah model Preview Question Read Summarize Test (PQRST) dan model Survey Question Read Recite Review (SQ3R) sebagai variabel bebas dan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks cerpen sebagai variabel terikat. Dalam desain nonequivalent control group design ini menggunakan dua kelompok, yakni kelompok eksperimen atau kelas XI IPA 4 menerapkan model Preview Question Read Summarize Test (PQRST) dan kelompok kontrol atau kelas XI IPA 5 menerapkan model Survey Question Read Recite Review (SQ3R). Teknik analisis data untuk menguji hipotesis menggunakan uji-t yang didahului dengan uji persyaratan normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji linearitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya perbedaan pengaruh yang signifikan antara penggunaan model Preview Question Read Summarize Test (PQRST) dan model Survey Question Read Recite Review (SQ3R) terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks cerpen siswa di kelas XI SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dari hasil uji-t dua pihak dengan taraf nyata (α) = 0,05 diperoleh thitung (3,190) > ttabel (2,001). Nilai thitung > ttabel menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks cerpen kedua kelompok berbeda secara signifikan. Berdasarkan nilai thitung tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Preview Question Read Summarize Test (PQRST) lebih baik atau lebih efektif diabandingkan dengan model Survey Question Read Recite Review (SQ3R).
