Abstract

The design of this research was a classroom action research. This research aimed to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary through reading fables story. This research was conducted in MIN 1 Serang. The subject of this research was all of students of the fourth grade of MIN 1 Serang, and the sample of this research was the students of IV A which consisted of 34 students. This research was conducted in two cycles; each cycle consisted of two meetings. In this research, the researcher used quantitative and qualitative data to see the improvement of the students’ vocabulary mastery. The result showed that there was significant improvement in the students’ vocabulary mastery through reading fables story, the result of the research showed that the average score of students’ vocabulary in pre test was 44. The average score in cycle one was 60, the average score in cycle two was 76, and the average score in post-test was 89. It indicated that reading fable story could improve students’ vocabulary mastery at fourth grade of MIN 1 Serang.
