Abstract

This study was motivated by the high level of academic stress experienced by XII grade students at SMKS Yuppentek 5 Curug Tangerang due to various factors and limited guidance and counseling services. To overcome this problem, group counseling services with progressive relaxation techniques were chosen as the intervention method. This study used a pre-experimental method with a one-group design that was tested before and after treatment. The results showed that progressive relaxation techniques had an effect in overcoming students' academic stress, with an average pre-test score of 123.5 and a post-test score decreasing to 84. Based on hypothesis testing using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.005 <0.05, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that the application of progressive relaxation has an effect in overcoming academic stress of XII grade students of SMKS Yuppentek 5 Curug Tangerang.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tingginya tingkat stres akademik yang dialami siswa kelas XII di SMKS Yuppentek 5 Curug Tangerang akibat berbagai faktor serta keterbatasan layanan bimbingan dan konseling. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, layanan konseling kelompok dengan teknik relaksasi progresif dipilih sebagai metode intervensi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pra-eksperimental dengan desain satu kelompok yang diuji sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik relaksasi progresif berpengaruh dalam mengatasi stres akademik siswa, dengan rata-rata skor pre-test sebesar 123,5 dan skor post-test menurun menjadi 84. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, diketahui nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) yaitu 0.005 < 0.05 maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, berarti penerapan relaksasi progresif berpengaruh dalam mengatasi stres akademik siswa kelas XII SMKS Yuppentek 5 Curug Tangerang.
