Abstract

In the era of globalization and high interconnectivity, multimedia aspects are becoming increasingly important as a means of communication. Individuals can find out various information and exchange information through social media. In this research, X or what is known as Twitter is a social media that offers and provides features for conducting public discussions. This is the main reason why X is used as an online political discussion forum which is attended by various age groups and voter groups during the political year. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of using X on the political participation of novice voters in the 2024 presidential election in Kelapa Dua District. This research applies the S-O-R theory and descriptive quantitative methods because the main aim of this research is to describe and explain the influence of the use of X on the political participation of first-time voters in Kelapa Dua District in the 2024 presidential election. The research population was 438 people with a sample of 81 respondents obtained through simple random sampling techniques. The data collection techniques used were literature studies and questionnaires. The results obtained are that the use of X as an independent variable has a positive influence and relationship on the political participation of first-time voters in Kelapa Dua in the 2024 presidential election. The strength of the relationship between these two variables is 0.717, which is included in the strong category with an influence of 0.514 or it can be said that the use of which were not included in this study.

Additional Information:	Di era globalisasi dan tingginya interkonektivitas, aspek multimedia menjadi semakin sangat penting sebagai sarana dalam melakukan komunikasi. Individu dapat mengetahui beragam informasi dan saling bertukar informasi melalui media sosial. Dalam penelitian ini, X atau yang dikenal sebagai Twitter merupakan media sosial yang menawarkan dan menyediakan fitur untuk melakukan diskusi publik. Hal inilah yang menjadi alasan utama X dijadikan sebagai wadah diskusi politik secara daring yang diikuti berbagai kalangan usia dan kelompok pemilih ketika tahun politik berlangsung. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan X terhadap partisipasi politik pemilih pemula pada Pilpres 2024 di Kecamatan Kelapa Dua. Penelitian ini menerapkan teori S-O-R dan metode kuantitatif deskriptif karena tujuan pokok dari penelitian ini ialah untuk menggambarkan dan menjelaskan mengenai pengaruh penggunaan X terhadap partisipasi politik pemilih pemula di Kecamatan Kelapa Dua pada Pilpres 2024. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 438 orang dengan sampel 81 responden yang diperoleh melalui teknik simple random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan ialah studi pustaka dan kuesioner. Hasil yang didapatkan ialah penggunaan X sebagai variabel bebas memiliki pengaruh dan hubungan positif terhadap partisipasi politik pemilih pemula di Kelapa Dua pada Pilpres 2024. Kekuatan hubungan antara dua variabel tersebut sebesar 0,717 termasuk ke dalam kategori kuat dengan pengaruh sebesar 0,514 atau dapat dikatakan bahwa penggunaan X memiliki pengaruh sebesar 51,4% terhadap partisipasi politik pemilih pemula di Kelapa Dua pada Pilpres 2024. Sedangkan 48,6% ialah variabel lain yang tidak dicantumkan dalam penelitian ini.
