Abstract

Corrosion is one of the main problems in industry, especially in cooling systems, refinery units, pipelines, chemicals, oil and gas production units, boiler and water processing, paints, pigments, lubricants and others. The research focused on testing the ability of biocoating materials of rice husk extract and resin gum using the weight loss method. In contrast, the corrosive medium used was demineralised water. The variations used were immersion time (1, 2 and 3 hours), silica concentration in biocoating (0,500, 1000 and 1500 ppm) and temperature (40, 60 and 80 oC). From the results of this study, the highest efficiency was 87.39% at a soaking time of 1 hour and a concentration of 1500 ppm. The higher the temperature, the efficiency of inhibition decreases; this shows the adsorption mechanism that occurs is physisorption.

Additional Information: Korosi merupakan salah satu permasalahan utama di industri, terutama pada cooling systems, refinery units, pipelines, chemicals, oil and gas production units, boiler and water processing, paints, pigments, lubricants dan lain-lain. Penelitian difokuskan pada pengujian kemampuan bahan biocoating ekstrak sekam padi dan getah damar dengan metode weight loss. Media korosif yang digunakan adalah air demineralisasi. Variasi yang digunakan adalah waktu perendaman (1, 2 dan 3 jam), konsentrasi silika dalam biocoating (0,500, 1000 dan 1500 ppm) dan temperatur (40, 60 dan 80 oC). Dari hasil penelitian ini diperoleh efisiensi tertinggi sebesar 87,39% pada waktu perendaman 1 jam dan konsentrasi 1500 ppm. Semakin tinggi suhu, efisiensi penghambatan menurun, hal ini menunjukkan mekanisme adsorpsi yang terjadi adalah fisisorpsi.
