Abstract

The importance of road access as a means of transportation needs to be considered because it affect the smooth running of vehicles passing over it. Road construction is not always on a good subgrade, there is possibility of being built on subgrade which has a low soil bearing capacity. One of the parameters to find out the soil bearing capacity (soil strength) is by CBR testing. This research aim to determine the CBR value on Kadusentar Village Road Medong Village Mekarjaya Subdistrict Pandeglang District before and after mixing with steel slag and fly ash and to determine the soil classification based on the guidelines of Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). This research uses additive materials a mixture of steel slag and fly ash with the percentage of steel slag 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% with 0% and 20% fly ash with aging for 0 days, 3 days and 7 days furthermore carried out to unsoaked CBR laboratory test. Based on the USCS, the type of soil in the area is included in the MH group, which is non-organic clay soil and includes soil types with high plasticity with a plasticity index value of 24.59%. Based on the results of mixing existing soil with additive obtained the greatest results in the variation of 20% steel slag and 20% fly ash and 7 days aging time the soil CBR values increased from 3.524% to 26.139%, this result is in the category of good and decreased soil plasticity index value in the variation of 20% steel slag and 20% fly ash is 4,57%. The lowest value of soil plasticity index in the variation of 30% steel slag and 20% fly ash is 2.30%, this result is in the category of low plasticity. Increasing aging time and the percentage of additives have an effect on increasing CBR values. Keywords : Stabilization, Fly Ash, Steel Slag, CBR.
