Abstract
This study explores the audience's interpretation and perception of the survival show program Boys Planet, which is part of the hallyu phenomenon in Indonesia. Grounded in the theory of reception analysis, the research seeks to understand how the audience perceives and interprets the program's message in the context of their experiences and backgrounds. Through analyzing the perspectives of the audience, the study aims to uncover how the program influences the audience's perception of the idol concept and how their views shape the selection of members for the boys group. The research methodology involves in-depth interviews with actively participating audience members of Boys Planet. Subjects were selected through purposive sampling, primarily targeting teenagers aged 18-25 in Jakarta who have an interest in hallyu and have watched all episodes of the program. The study also considers the impact of hallyu in Indonesia and the differences between the audience in Jakarta and those in other cities. The findings of the research are expected to provide a deeper understanding of how the audience interprets the survival show Boys Planet within the context of the hallyu phenomenon, and how it influences their perception of the idol concept. This research contributes significantly to understanding the interaction between media and the audience, as well as the role of the audience in the process of media meaning production.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini membahas tentang pemaknaan dan interpretasi khalayak terhadap program survival shows Boys Planet yang merupakan bagian dari fenomena hallyu di Indonesia. Dengan landasan teori reception analysis, penelitian ini berusaha untuk memahami bagaimana khalayak mempersepsikan dan memaknai isi pesan program tersebut dalam konteks pengalaman dan latar belakang mereka. Melalui analisis terhadap pandangan khalayak, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bagaimana program ini mempengaruhi cara khalayak melihat konsep idola, serta bagaimana pandangan mereka membentuk pemilihan anggota boys group. Metode penelitian menggunakan wawancara mendalam dengan khalayak yang aktif berpartisipasi dalam menonton Boys Planet. Subjek penelitian dipilih secara purposive sampling, terutama remaja berusia 18-25 tahun di Jakarta yang memiliki minat terhadap hallyu dan telah menonton seluruh episode program tersebut. Penelitian juga mempertimbangkan dampak hallyu di Indonesia dan perbedaan antara khalayak di Jakarta dengan khalayak di kota lain. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman yang lebih dalam tentang bagaimana khalayak memaknai program survival shows Boys Planet dalam konteks fenomena hallyu, serta bagaimana pengaruhnya terhadap pandangan mereka tentang konsep idola. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam pemahaman tentang interaksi antara media dan khalayak, serta peran khalayak dalam proses produksi makna media. | |||||||||
